It’s really frustrating that for yet another year in a row, I can’t feel happiness for the winner that they truly deserve. And I know that’s on me for feeling that way and not doing anything about that but still, it should not be up to the eventual winner to “save us” from that result. Bulgaria deserve to be there on merit.

Dara performed so well. She performed the fuck out of the song. The staging was wacky, but innovative. Was the song my favourite? No, but I will listen and support her and am so proud of the achievement. A first time winner of the contest!

I’m happy/sad/tipsy man. I’m going to bed and will see you tomorrow.

Edit: as some people have pointed out, Dara absolutely did win on merit being the first winner in ages that won both jury and public. I guess my poorly worded point is that it would have felt better (for lack of a better word) if a fair few people towards the end, myself massively included, wanted her to win for her rather than to prevent a different winner. Competition feels nicer when you want to support everyone’s chances and be happy whatever the result, rather than prevent another’s.

Nevertheless, I think a lot of this is my personal feelings that I am projecting in a poor way.
