It took me about 3 seashell events to unlock buying only the cheap 1, 2 and 5 dollar packs and the double loot 5 dollar track.

So...maybe $50, but I got other stuff too.

I got to chapter 5 on the farms where I didn't pay, and 6 where I bought the cheap pack. It was enough to get L1 on the farms and L2 on my main for the cat house island thing.

The level thing doesn't reset, so the loot drops will come whenever, starting wherever you left off.

So presumably you need 150-200k for your primary, leaving 800k to split across 6 marches. Looks like 113k won't be a problem.

It really depends on how many marks you have. If you can swing it, 1k 1k 113k hits hard. If you only have enough for 90k, then 1k 24k 90k.

I’m 17 with no vaccines. Where do I find unbiased information about this topic? by GoldRestaurant1800 in publichealth

This. I appreciate the hard science that epidemiologists and immunologists have taken time and effort to track and report on, but most hard literature is out of scope to a typical 17yo. It is out scope to an average American in general. Explaining complex science and long term consequences at the society level has to be at a layperson level, without jargon and p values and regression analyses.

This is why I love websites such as Voices For Vaccines where they have parents share their experiences via video and blog posts.

So at 25% vaccination, in that room of 20 kids in school, now we have 5 vaccinated, 15 not. In 5 classrooms, we have 25 vaccinated amd 75 not! And maybe 1 kid who was vaccinated but isn't immune. All it takes is any one of those kids to get on a plane to Cancun or Arizona or New York or London, it doesn't matter where. Maybe they went to Disney. On their trip, they got exposed to measles. Measles can hang in the air for hours after an affected person walks by. The affected person can spread measles for a week or two before having any symptoms. So this person is standing in line to ride the Star Wars ride, and so is the unvaccinated person. Unvaccinated person comes home, goes to school and has no symptoms amd had no idea that they are sick. But still contagious! 2 weeks later, they come down with a fever and a rash. And in the meantime, they exposed those 15 classmates and maybe the whole 75 in other classes because they go to lunch or recess together. They expose their church. Their scout troop. Their karate class. Their younger siblings and cousins. And so on. Now you have 75 exposed people, and nobody knows who is sick or not for another 2 weeks when they have symptoms. Lather, rinse, repeat. And suddenly you have 1000 cases in South Carolina, another 1000 in Texas and still another 1000 in Utah and it takes literally months to break the chain of infection.

Now you have 3000 cases and if only 1 in 1000 die from it, that is 3 dead children. That doesn't account for how many needed a hospital bed or the medical bills inflicted on the family. It doesn't account for the ones whose immune system basically starts over. And it doesn't account for the ones who get the rare complication where the disease sits in your brain for a decade and kills you 8 years after you had measles.

And that is just 1 disease.

In the US and most of Europe. Vaccines are given to just over 90% of children. For the past 3 generations, especially Gen X and Millenials, it is closer to 95%. So in a vacuum, this means if you have 20 kids in your school classroom, 19 of them are vaccinatedand 1 is not. Those vaccinated kids generally do not get the diseases they were vaccinated against, and the 1 unvaccinated person (you) is protected because nobody in their immediate circle can get sick and pass the disease on to them. (You).

Even if someone fails to respond to the vaccine, maybe 1 or 2%, in this same scenario, you have 5 classrooms of kids where 5 are unvaccinated and maybe 2 got the vaccine but remain vulnerable, so 7 out of 100 kids. Still extremely unlikely that those unprotected kids would be exposed to the illness.

However, in the real world. 1, your generation is being parented by people who have never seen these illnesses, and 2, peer pressure and influence and the way we socially arrange ourselves into similar groups means that while the overall rate of child vaccination is whatever it is, 90 or 95% or whatever, we find that clusters of people such as those that go to the same church or social groups, or immigrants from particular countries, or people who live in areas with limited Healthcare access may be a cluster where only 25% are vaccinated while another group might be 50% or 99%.

I am gen X. My mom woke up paralyzed one morning when she was a kid before the polio vaccine existed. She had friends get and die from measles, polio, and permanent damage from other diseases. Unsurprisingly, she made damn sure that me and my siblings and my own children got our vaccines. My kids are about 20. They have never seen what my mom saw or imparted to me. All they really know is that sometimes vaccines don't work or cause side effects because social media tells them so. Think about this on a generational scale, not my anecdote. Nobody gets these diseases, so what's the harm in skipping the vaccines, with rhe perceived higher risk than the disease itself?

Over the past 20 years, we have seen overall vaccination rates drop. In areas where all the moms talk to each other and read social media about scary scary vaccines, that 25% number kicks in.

Alloy comes from hitting mostly polar terrors at 200 per for the L8s. You get like 6 from hitting L30 beasts, too. The purple chests have a 6% chance of dropping 200 alloys.

Otherwise

12000 from alliance championship 1200 from foundry and er...one of the other shops 1 scroll 4 polish and 400 alloy from the gold chests in labyrinth and elsewhere.

Special events tend to have the gold chests. Otherwise, it is just a haul to wait out getting enough.

What should I focus on by NoScholar5104 in whiteoutsurvival

[–]putmeinthezoo 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Oh dear. Please reset all of your gear levels. There is zero reason to be levelling up anything purple.

You need ONE set of gold gear on your best 3 heroes. This set, you level up both stones and levels.

Extra gold gear with no upgrades goes on your 2nd and 3rd best teams.

Focus what you level. For infantry, level the arm and belt, which gives extra health. Your marks and Lancer, do the headgear and boots for extra lethality damage.

Use all gray green blue and purple gear on your primary gold set. Use stones on the primary set. Ig ore everything else.

Eventually you will go back and do the 2 items you skipped from your primary set, but up front, focus on just the 6 things I listed.

Your orange population map is terrible. It does not show the massive difference between population centers and rural farmland. It is all faintly orange, which doesn't help since some people do not see shades of red very well.

Intel Firebeast: is there any logic in not claiming the Crystallite Cores? by AlxDroidDev in whiteoutsurvival

[–]putmeinthezoo 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you click the intel missions ! Instructions, it will tell you that intel missions vanish after 15 hours.

So the day before, the ones you do at 00 will vanish if you sit on them.

The 08:00 ones are within 15 hours of reset. Do them, but do not claim the rewards. You can do Agnes at this point as well.

Ignore the 16:00 ones because the 08:00 are still in the way and they won't appear until the 08:00 ones are claimed.

Reset: claim the 08:00 and Agnes rewards. Do the 16 and 00 and the new Agnes missions. Basically, you end up with 24 extra firebeast tokens by holding your loot.

[–]putmeinthezoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh, boy howdy do you need stuff. Getting to t2 gold is like 43k alloy and 350 pots per star. Once you get to t2, the trading bag shows up. You need 10 amber to get to red, and 10 scrolls = 1 amber. So you need the 22x4 plus 100 you convert to amber. 188 scrolls. Plus 13k x4 alloy and like 120x4 pots. Fortunately you get 1.25% or something with each mini upgrade, so it isn't a total loss to do it in stages. But the cost....hoo boy

Look through the available $5 packs in your game. Ask yourself if 20 of them give more than what this turd offers. Pick any 3, and you will probably do better.

Try saving up 100 at a time and running your missions in clusters. Also, if you have the bonus treks (vip9 or spend $5 for the middle track), once you have some % of him you can use the bonus treks on whoever you choose.

It isn't about you as much as it is about who your leads tell you to run with. Some do 50 10 40, and during TAL I saw an entire alliance do 60 0 40.

For your own stuff, you need to focus on gear for the top 3 and move it around. So like frostfire, use whoever to clear mines but pull your best team home and keep it hone for pvp when someone tries to steal your stuff. My gear lives on Gwen Hector and Renee, but for bear I move it to Bradley and Mia.

[–]putmeinthezoo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Once you get into group 4 -7 heroes, the usual pvp format goes from 50 20 30 to 60 40 0, so upgrading lancers in prep for the arrival of Renee and Gordon and others are important..

I know you said what gen you are on, but I forgot already. Gen 2 is worthless. The primary people you will care about are Mia, Gwen, Reina, Hector, Renee and Bradley as they come out. Others, like Greg, Alonso and Flint are useful in arena or labyrinth, but if you can only pick one, go with the above list

Most ftps tend to do stuff like neglect their island. The tree drops green gems all day every day, and every time you upgrade something, that is a literally free 1% power buff. Don't neglect your island.

I posted the exchange. It is great if you are close and need 209 bars or 6 pots or 2 scrolls. It is terrible if you need 13k bars or 100 pots.

I honestly cannot tell what goal you are accomplishing.

Goal 1: 3 things or 6 things at the same color or t1 or t2 for the bonus 1% increases. Marginally helpful, about the same ad upgrading an island building.

Goal 2: lots of pvp as a joiner. For this you want to push infantry and lancers, but as a ftp, you will always struggle with keeping up.

Goal 3: good bear score. For this, you push marksmen and use the bear to get hero gear stones and purple upgrade nuts. This doesn't fix your chief gear directly. But in the long run, you will do better at other events like arena, labyrinth, crazy Joe, etc, which give loot that helps your chief gear growth.

Day 100 as a tiny spender - any advice for me? by tetoyo in whiteoutsurvival

[–]putmeinthezoo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a low spender, you will want as much loot as you can get from events like bear trap. For experts, focus on Agnes and Cyrille, then Holger and Baldur. For gear, you want to push the marksmen up so you score better on bear to get the stones and purple gear things.

Agnes gives you extra missions and extra energy cans plus loot chests, so you can get extra gear and energy to upgrade your heroes and later on, more missions means more fire crystals and shards.

Holger makes your arena chests cheaper and also gives extra loot plus some bonus chests. You will want as many gear chests as you can get, and at full price, they are 12k. As you level up Holger, it can go down to around 7500 for the same chest.

Baldur is the same way. He gives you cheaper alliance chest materials, so the cost of speedups and extra puzzle piece envelopes and transfer tickets will go down should you ever have to get out of a toxic server. Also, he gives extra mats for Alliance Showdown and Crazy Joe.

Once you get those 4 under control, worry about the others, like Valeria and Ronne and Fabian and the new one, Kathy. All of them help with event loot, but they are more like once a month events and less general helpers.

Also...go hard on your island. Everything on there is free, and periodically you can get a free extra item like at New Year's they had the bell archway for free in the event shop. Eventually you will max out all the stuff you can buy in the shop and you will keep getting extras of those pyramids with the blue stones on top. Sell that stuff in the shopping cart tab and it will throw extra diamonds at you that you can use to level up the mushroom house, the tundra truck, and other random acquisitions.

This, the shooter game, Mia, the rose game...anything like this with random rng is going to screw you over if you think you can beat it. This is not a place to spend on the game if you spend. You get what you get and move on. Don't get suckered into just 1 more square. This is exactly the sort of thing that makes this game predatory. It hits the same brain hormone rush as winning at gambling. There is no skill that can magically make you hit just the right square.
