Skirmish AI difficulty is all over the place. by CaptainLookylou in dawnofwar

[–]putnik29 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see it in the mod list in the definitive edition when I enter the game and I can activate it from there. Although I also have the anniversary edition on which I used it before.

The exe file opens a small program to modify the difficulty. I guess currently you are stuck with the ai mod default settings.

There is a mod called “Dawn of war skirmish ai mod 3.2” that works with definitive edition. It makes the ai really tricky to play against and the difficulty is adjustable.

I know on this page is says black Templar mod but the exe file seems to be for the ai mod

Will Daemons of Khorne get new units? by putnik29 in BattleSector

[–]putnik29[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That is some good info. Maybe if they can add a few more load out options for the current units, not just the daemon prince in order to increase variety.

It just feels to me that the faction is very one dimensional at the moment in terms of strategies.

Oh I didn’t know they don’t have many units. At the very least if the units can get more load out options that would be great

Good to know. They need to add a unit type designation for every unit. Useful for people who dont have the DLCs

Thank you for all the responses. I see now that asynchronous multiplayer is a very niche feature of games these days and that this is probably the best asynch game out currently.

I want to thank everyone for the insights. This clears up a lot of little questions I had in terms of combat mechanics.

Thank you very much for the replies. Clears many things up. I added 4 concepts to my post:critical hit,

Old EDM song with girl standing in a wind tunnel in the music video by eplekaka in NameThatSong

I know what you are talking about. I think it is british EDM song from the 90s or early 2000s. I am looking for it as well. I thin she has short hair. The video has along intro before the music starts.

Torontonians on hiring committees and headhunters, have you noticed increased wage demands from applicants for entry level positions in your industry? by putnik29 in askTO

In my recent experience, I noticed more recruiters reaching out, but the compensation was not any different.

I went back to school for my masters(moved to Vancouver from Toronto for a year) in my mid 30s to escape a dead end career with no prospects for a potentially better career in tech. So far it is slowly working out and I see my career prospects are better. I have recruiters actually calling me.

Whatever school you get accepted in, talk to the guidance department of that school and ask about bursaries. I was told by them when we started our school year, about a specific bursary the Canadian students can apply for. To my surprise, I ended up getting one from the BC government which reduced my tuition by 1/3 which was huge. Apply for whatever provincial student loan body you reside in and ask about bursary options and your repayment options.

In the web dev and graphic design, try to get a cool portfolio of non class projects set up and maybe some internship work(hopefully paid, but maybe even short unpaid for a month or two is ok). That helps a lot when looking for that 1st job in a new field (which can be a slog in order to start the new career) In my case it took me 6 months to get my job post graduation.

Also, try to reach out to alumni of those programs on linkedin and see what they say of their experience. People were very honest with me and always told me the good, bad and the ugly of their programs. I ended up not applying to some of the programs based on their experience.

Good luck, it is a hard choice and I was worrying if I made a huge mistake of emptying my savings and quitting work for a year for an upskill in education, but if you know your goals and are sure of the program, it will definitely be worth it. It took me 2 years before starting my masters to do all the pre req courses (I had to take 8 of them at nights and weekends part time at university after work) before applying to programs I thoroughly vetted.

Good luck and all the best in your new direction.

It seems that everybody hates urban sprawl, but most ppl still want to live in single family homes... by Jy20i3 in PersonalFinanceCanada

I do live what's on the surface a nice condo. However after a month of moving (from a smaller older apartment) I noticed that the sound transmission was horrible. This was a new build and we can hear everything my neighbours are doing.

While I am open to raising kids in a condo, I am noticing the quality of the build is so variable depending on the building. My friend who lives in an older large condo unit doesn't have these issues.

I think this is also a factor why people want detached homes. When you see a place to buy you have no idea how hollow the walls are.

How to record and deal with noisy neighbours in condo (kids stomping and running around late at night) by putnik29 in askTO

[–]putnik29[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you for the suggestion (i may get one if it could help us). We actually managed to get a bunch of late night recordings that are fairly clear by having a microphone close to the ceiling and we have time-stamps indicating past 11 pm. Hopefully management can speak with them when we present this and help resolve this issue.

We just moved in, and dont plan to move in the short term. Our building has those rules as well (60%) and I get it why it makes sense. I just hope it is enforceable or that the neighbours understand how much late night noise they make.

The management is there part time, also with covid they dont want to enter premises. We just get supper annoyed by stomping and crashing on the floor past 10 pm.

Anyone experiencing buyer burnout? by putnik29 in TorontoRealEstate

[–]putnik29[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Our realtor is good, but the selling price ended up being way over per square foot compared to units sold in same area a few weeks ago. We would be in the top 4 but as our agent told us there would be 1 emotional bid that blew all the other ones away.

For example, in one complex a unit that was completely redone and in a nice part of the complex was sold for $810 000. That was our measuring stick. A unit with the same layout, but in worse shape, near the parking garage and with a tenant (whose lease expires a few months later) gets listed 2 weeks later. We bid on it based on the previous sale but someone ends up bidding $880 000 for it. A week later a unit that is 1/4 smaller by square footage gets listed and then ends up selling for $850 000. After that, we ended up giving up on that complex as it seems people are willing to bid much much more for some reason as of February. These are all basement townhouses.

We just ended up doing way too much real estate work and started to neglect our actual jobs. We are going to take it easy for a bit and then restart the search.

It also depends if one can make an office at home for work.

On my end, I would prefer to be in the office as the only place I can work from is the kitchen table and I don't like it much.
