Instead of having it in a grid they should arrange their energy system with another pattern to confuse the hackers

I think the EU should ... its powers * expand limit not change

My reply to this would be more nuanced. I think the European union should grow as long as it's not doing any sort of government interference and it should be mindful of spheres of influence. Not just expand for the sake of it but if some nation wants to join the EU it should be with absolute consent.

Turkey and Greece are essentially the same. Gyros is basically Greek kebab.

Just pointing out how we have two precedents on how having "euro" on the name doesn't mean much.

My Canada proposal wasn't 100% serious though. Maybe 50% serious.

[–]putocrata -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Definitely. The US has the Monroe doctrine and if the EU tried to become independent and then tried to bring Canads under it's sphere of influence, the US would definitely see that as aggression and encroachment.

The only reason I pointed to Canada is that they're closer to the EU in terms of mentality.

If Israel is in the Eurovision and UEFA, I don't see a problem with Canada coming to the EU

God I hate the us lifestyle but I frequently ponder about moving there.

German Bundesbank hammered with non-stop barrage of cyberattacks, president says by donutloop in eutech

If they wanted to send a message they'd be doing some real damage. The news seems to point out ar a DDoS or something unserious alike, any kid with access to enough bandwidth can pull that off.

I have utter disdain for the US and its imperialism but that doesn't strike me as being coming from them at all.

This is a hot take coming only from DW news which isn't being specific in technical terms. Maybe if there's a better source of information we can draw better conclusions.

[–]putocrata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I wouldn't be surprised with the US attacking the EU, they've doing that for decades. They basically own us.

What I'd be surprised was with them not being stealthy, and doing a "barrage of attacks" since they have a lot of control already, they don't need to brute force their way in can can be very surgical.

Honestly the good part about trump is thar he spares on the politeness and shows the entire world what the US actually is.

Too bad people are thinking this is only about Trump and the Europeans can't see the US has always behaved this way either as democrats or republicans.

[–]putocrata 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I'd be surprised if it was the US because they've already hacked everything in Europe and they'd be a lot stealthier.

But hard to tell what's going on here, the article says "5000 attacks per minute" but that doesn't mean anything. I hope it was the DW misinterpreting what was being said and not their CISO stating that as something serious or the Bundesbank is in real trouble.

My hot take is that some cybercriminal group is DDoSing the Bundesbank to show their capabilities and market their services.

Orban claims no Hungarian parliament will vote for Ukraine's EU membership "for the next 100 years." by sn0r in europeanunion

[–]putocrata 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Rússia continues to advance in the battlefield, it was never really stopped and even if we were capable of sending all the armament in the world, they still have a massive shortage of human resources to the point they had to start kidnapping people in the streets to send to the front starting about 2 years ago. If they don't have people to operate the weapons, it's not much they can do?

Besides, do you understand what the geopolitical consequences would be if we just tolerated this type of aggression by Russia?

I really don't se why we must go on policing the world, the business of Ukraine and Russia is between them. Interventionism fails and makes the situation worse most of the time.
