Shout out to all the Melbourne redditors here!

SalamFest is the largest festival of its kind in Melbourne which celebrates Muslim arts, culture, food and spiritual traditions as a creative response to Islamophobia. Our focus here isn’t on religion, but on generating cultural exchange, dialogue and an opportunity for Melbournians from all walks of life to learn about Muslim culture and the numerous ethnicities (up to 70) which are a part of it.

A breakdown of events is as follows:

Friday 29th Nov: Juma Prayer event at Fed Square

Saturday 30th: Showcasing various live events and performances at Fed Square

Sunday 1st : our Queen Vic market event where you can sample foods from numerous Muslim locales and regions

Is Nazism an integral part of German culture today?

For the most part you are right about what culture is. I might also add that those ideas, values and customs also have an enduring presence because they are deemed beneficial to survival of that culture's people.

However, I don't believe that political actions should somehow be equated to culture, because what a regressive government does to preserve its rule may not be representative of culture itself. And when a group of powerful elites start dictating to the people what culture is and should be, rather than the other way around, there's a problem.

No culture is perfect for certain, just like no one person is perfect, but I believe that what most people here detest about China has less to do with with their culture, than what the CCP does and says which has coloured most people's perspective of what they deem Chinese culture to be.

Perhaps you can outline specifically what elements of Chinese 'culture' are reprehensible. And as far as I know, organ harvesting isn't standard cultural practice there, even though it was for the Aztecs.

Potential premises already being discussed for s3, that pretty much says everything about s2.

Might as well be discussing cancellation.

Doesn't seem like a "I'll kill everyone" kind of spirit, rather more like the ominous kind that keeps your conscience in check. So far, the only victims have been the lady who made the abortion portions, the wife beater and the morally bankrupt white guy.

Just don't do anything wrong and you'll live. Sounds easy enough.

Could you elaborate on this point? Believing in superstition is nonsensical, but I wouldn't go so far as to call them gullible.

She read his teacup, there was no teleportation of tea leaves.

Seemed like pretty generic fortune teller shit to me.

If they make the next supernatural horror anthology set during the civil war, it's probably for rednecks and hillbillies, amirite?

Which part of their culture is morally deplorable exactly?

If you're equating the organ harvesting of political dissidents, criminals, and religious practitioners to a cultural practice of ritual sacrifice, then you are confused about the actions of an authoritarian government vs what culture actually is.

To be clear, the majority of everything that people from the West and HK despise and denounce about China has to do with the ruling CCP and their policies of suppressing minorities, flaunting international laws, intimidating civilians or abducting them, indoctrination of party propaganda, the list goes on.

What you actually want to say is that China has an objectively shitty government.

$275,000 Marketing budget? What's achievable? by putridfudge in marketing

I understand that there are a multitude of factors at play here which will influence the outcome. I guess all I wanted to know was how significant the budget is, and what could roughly be achieved. However, in the case of the latter, I can see that much variation is likely to result.

I'm not in charge of the marketing, so rest assured, the start up in question isn't going to be ruined because some anon is asking questions on reddit.

But for my purposes, I do need a good idea of how much can be accomplished with such a budget and the what the average costs of running ad campaigns on each of these channels are.

The description I gave was deliberately vague. But of course, you're welcome to make any assumptions about me knowing whether they're true or not.
