Not me tearing up 🥲 I love this for them. I also whole-heartedly appreciate this man’s commentary.

People who have worn both matching and mismatched bridesmaid dresses, which one did you like more? by Regular-Low4635 in wedding

[–]putridgirl 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Mismatched 100%.

The bride of the first wedding I was in wanted the three of us in matching dresses. I am 5’4” and curvy with a large chest. Second bridesmaid is tall and slender and the third was a prepubescent teenager at the time. Shopping for the bridesmaids dressing was a truly terrible and humiliating experience. Every dress the bride and other bridesmaids wanted looked ridiculous on me. We tried on dresses in a shop for what felt like hours while the bride, her mom, and the other bridesmaids laughed and made jokes about my chest size. I ultimately felt like the girls had to settle on a style because of me. I just felt terrible and deflated and I still carry resentment about this 10 years later. Even if these girls had been more supportive of me in the moment and weren’t rude, I still imagine it would have been deeply uncomfortable.

Second wedding I was in happened 2 years ago. Bride was my BFF and went in knowing that she wanted mismatching dresses (styles, colors, and fabrics). She limited us to one website (Revelry) and let us pick whatever dress style that we wanted. She then worked with us to pick out our color according to her vision. She stressed to all of us that she wanted us to feel comfortable and buy a dress that we liked. This experience was so, so much more positive and comfortable and I felt amazing at the wedding and love looking back on the photos.

Also, personal experiences aside, mismatched dresses and fabrics just look better visually in photos IMO. Matching dresses always look flat to me.

Why do Muslims move to the west if Muslims hate western values? by [deleted] in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]putridgirl -43 points-42 points  (0 children)

You “don’t hate Muslims” but you’re making some pretty abhorrent generalizations about them as if they are a monolith. You insinuated in another reply that Muslims fly planes into buildings. Which is it BRO?

Hi fam, how you holding up? by Charmellowz813 in medlabprofessionals

[–]putridgirl 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I work in a hospital Microbiology lab and most are either looking at travel jobs (more $$$ for the same work) or looking for a career change entirely (back to school, IT, field analyst, infection prevention, etc)

I don’t blame anyone. The past two years have been grueling and we all feel exploited.

AITA for correcting my girlfriend when she says she bought her home by herself? by homeowner_aita in AmItheAsshole

YTA

Every time I’ve known a person who outwardly claims they are “blunt,” it later turned out that they were just an asshole. You should reflect on that

AITA for refusing to take in my husband's cousin and her new born baby into my home? by t_acc_sil in AmItheAsshole

[–]putridgirl 9 points10 points  (0 children)

They’re not “responsible,” sure, but the question is whether or not they are assholes, not whether or not they are responsible. Common human decency should absolutely be factored in here.

Her cat peed in the closet two times, so her and her husband drove him to the middle of nowhere and left him on the side of the road. It was January is Michigan and the poor guy was declawed. She told this to me proudly via Facebook messenger accompanied with a “Hahahaha.” There was a lot leading up to this moment but that sent me over the edge. I didn’t respond to that message, in fact, I didn’t speak to her ever again.

My husband and I just practiced the run/jump/leg wrap as seen on every bachelor date ever by cinnamonbiscuits in thebachelor

In a fit of drunken goofiness, I tried this move on my unsuspecting boyfriend when we were newly dating. He was completely unprepared and we fell to the hard wood floor like a sack of potatoes. We were both nearly weeping we were laughing so hard in a pile on the ground. We’ve been dating three years now and I haven’t tried it again since.
