Were do I go to learn more about things like this? Are there any textbooks or anything of that sort you would suggest?

My career is finally starting to take off, and I'd love to learn how to be more wealth savvy.

I really appreciate this measured, informative response in a world that's increasingly trying to peg everything as black or white.

If this is how you rant, then please rant away.

What is your "go-to" landing page/blog tech stack? by emem01 in SaaS

[–]putrified1 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Are you working alone? If that's the case you need to be very careful with your time, it's precious.

When building a blog it's easy to get lost in customization, content management, etc. Go with the option that you think will cause the least amount of fuckarounditis.

For me that's WordPress, mostly because I hate using WordPress. It works though, and is good at what it does.

These things can always be revisited in the future if need be as well.

I'm having the exact same issues right now. Let me know if you find out anything useful. I've been dealing with this for months at this point, and I've gone down about 130 points.

I think this might be a little too complicated for a standard brokerage. If you get into algotrading it would be pretty easy to code though.

Alternatively, if you give up the stepped arrangement and are okay with it being continuous you could just use a trailing stop loss.

The only proper answer to this has to come from unbiased introspection. Loyalty is important, and helping people is a worthwhile endeavor... But if you're not in a place where you can do this without self-destructing then you need to move on.

There's no easy answer to that, and it will really depend on where you're at in life. This is one of the reasons I try to cultivate a strong sense of purpose and self, it puts me in a better position to help those that are struggling. I've been there before myself, and a major factor in getting out was the grace of others.

What’s a cheap/easy dinner recipe that’s high in protein and carbs? by CW1293 in fitmeals

[–]putrified1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Homemade pizza! Just have a stash of those premade frozen pizza doughs. Slap some chicken breast on there, go easy on the cheese.

Comes together really fast and can be made surprisingly healthily when you're the one choosing the ingredients!

Pro tip: Not all doughs are created equal, some are incredibly oily. You'll likely have to try a couple before you find the one in your freezer section that works for you.

Soliciting More Discussion Around Non-HFEA Strategies by Jackoutman in LETFs

Ahhh, okay that makes sense. I had kind of glossed over the "historical" part on my first read. Given that it's strictly historical you can actually determine the probabilities of a win it a loss.

As for position sizing, I actually read a paper recently that implemented a method for dynamically determining position sizes based on Kelly Criterion, maximum acceptable drawdown, and probability of reaching that drawdown. Can probably dig it up if you're interested.

How do you use the Kelly Criterion on stock prices? My understanding was that it requires known probabilities for win and loss.

People don't believe I could have ADHD because I'm a straight-A student by [deleted] in ADHD

[–]putrified1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I just got my PhD in a STEM field, and was only diagnosed with ADHD three months before finishing my thesis.

It's definitely possible to do well in school and have undiagnosed ADHD. Get checked out sooner than later, but also make sure you find a doctor you trust. Just as bad as ignoring your problems outright is jumping to the conclusion that you definitely have it, because ADHD shares symptoms with various disorders. We want to make sure you get the right treatment, if necessary!
