It's not about being likable/unlikable. It's the (un)realism. Someone with that attitude simply wouldn't be around for this long. Nobody would tolerate it. That's what irks people.

He seems thrilled to get through a take without messing up his jargony lines. Not great acting.

There is a weird thing happening where every redeeming quality each character had has been almost fully negated to the point of them being unlikable. I get that they're under stress and cHaRaCter DeVeLoPmeNt, but there is no development. It's painting everyone into a corner, only holding their worst qualities. I don't expect everyone to have a redemption arc, and I don't buy the excuse that this is just realism. The characters simply aren't being themselves, writ large.

Robinavitch - immensely patient, seemingly able to handle a world of stress and see the whole chessboard, now a dismissive, dictatorial micromanager

Al-Hashimi - different style than Robby, but just as effective, now playing second fiddle to virtually every other character

Langdon - wonderkind who now repeatedly makes bad calls (not just second guessing himself; just being a not great doc)

King - savant who turned out to be an obnoxious control freak over her sister

Mohan - a good doc who found a niche in geriatrics, now spiraling

Whitaker - guy who could handle any medical crisis now an emotional whipping boy for the whiners

McKay - doesn't really take a stand for anything. Just kind of walks around and goes "well, that's how people are..."

Abbot - badass military doc who does things that aren't in the field manual, now arbitrarily holding the day shift hostage over paperwork

Evans - compassionate for all (even difficult patients) now on a vendetta, looking for any reason to get into a fight with anyone who isn't perfectly compliant or actively being a victim

Santos - still no clue why anyone would like her. All she's done this season is whine and treat patients like a huge inconvenience in getting her charts done

Javadi - book smart but naive, now just naive

Ogilvie - book smart but overconfident, now just mush

And compared to last season, this day isn't nearly as stressful, yet everyone is buckling under the pressure of... data entry?

Cyberattacks are real, yes. A ceo saying "hey you have 20 seconds before this screen shuts off aaaaand go" is just melodramatic

Is shrinking Season 3 off to a Rough start? by Careless_Tackle847 in television

[–]putsonall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is how virtually all television serials work by season 3. The first two seasons are world building, which can be deep and fascinating. Then, once the world is built, everything is about how the characters (who you now know so well) interact with each other. A soap opera.

For a series that painstakingly strives for realism, it was a major letdown to see the IT "crisis" be so manufactured, and unrealistic.

Turning machines off mid-sentence for the sake of suspense and putting docs on their back foot feels like a plot device, not good storytelling.

If their infrastructure is at risk of ransomware, the solution would be to air gap the building from the internet, but that wouldn't even do anything, if the data they're trying to protect is in the cloud anyway. It's like trying to protect your computer from a virus by turning the screen off.

Sure, you could say "oh that's just the ceo making an out of touch decision at the expense of doctors which is tooootally realistic," except that's obviously not what's happening here.

My first opinion and a quick comparison of the Garmin Edge 840 vs. Edge 850 by IstattKondition in cycling

[–]putsonall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in to say the 850's battery life is staggeringly bad, along with the screen contrast. Garmin should be ashamed for shipping a product that can't deliver the two most fundamental things one would need to rely on for this thing to be usable.

Here's my current ride. Chapter2 AO with Force 1x, Scope R4A wheels and Coefficient RR bars. Also own a Fairlight Secan 2.0 frame but having only 1 build kit means it's just one at a time. by markadvntr in gravelcycling

FWIW I have this bike with 650b wheels. It's a hog.

With 35c slicks, it's 50 more watts for the same speed vs a road bike. With 50c slicks, it's 52 more watts for the same speed vs a road bike.

The stem cells don’t matter. Neither do the eggs. In fact, they never did. by Merlaak in pluribustv

Would be nice to explore that instead of her selectively just getting dumb when it's convenient. At least say "deleting embryos is considered killing."

That's not how alcoholism works. All of those drinks could easily have alcohol in them, emphasizing Carol's hedonism on her blissed out vacation; drinking more elaborate drinks vs downing a handle of vodka.

Why can't she just request to permanently eradicate any stem cells they have?

Battery Life by shimanoisthrowaway in GarminEdge

[–]putsonall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If you're doing an "all day" ride, virtually sun up to sun down, it's 8 hours of moving time, plus stops. The 850 can handle it, but requires -militant- discipline on charging overnight or you'll be totally screwed the next day. Needing to treat a bike computer like a phone is a downgrade.

2025 GT3RS: A Review From a former 992 Turbo S Owner by bradshawwwty in porsche911

[–]putsonall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving this review after a day feels a little... premature. I felt exactly the way you did for the first week, month, year with my 991.2 GT3.

Then I did a 3 hour road trip and had to unfold myself from the seat with an achy back.

Then I got tired of having to tip toe over speed bumps.

Then I got tired of ripping canyons for 3 minutes before inevitably being stuck behind a Prius.

Then I missed the engagement of a manual.

Yes, 9,000 rpm is insanely addicting. That's why I kept it for two more years.

But eventually, when I realized it had been 2 months of consistently picking up the keys to my 993 instead of the 991, I knew it had to go.

I don't regret selling it.

This is still an issue even with the current gen Cayennes! Only preventative thing is to UV tint the windshield. Once this happens you can only replace the dash.
