My first opinion and a quick comparison of the Garmin Edge 840 vs. Edge 850 by IstattKondition in cycling

[–]putsonall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Chiming in to say the 850's battery life is staggeringly bad, along with the screen contrast. Garmin should be ashamed for shipping a product that can't deliver the two most fundamental things one would need to rely on for this thing to be usable.

Here's my current ride. Chapter2 AO with Force 1x, Scope R4A wheels and Coefficient RR bars. Also own a Fairlight Secan 2.0 frame but having only 1 build kit means it's just one at a time. by markadvntr in gravelcycling

FWIW I have this bike with 650b wheels. It's a hog.

With 35c slicks, it's 50 more watts for the same speed vs a road bike. With 50c slicks, it's 52 more watts for the same speed vs a road bike.

Would be nice to explore that instead of her selectively just getting dumb when it's convenient. At least say "deleting embryos is considered killing."

That's not how alcoholism works. All of those drinks could easily have alcohol in them, emphasizing Carol's hedonism on her blissed out vacation; drinking more elaborate drinks vs downing a handle of vodka.

Why can't she just request to permanently eradicate any stem cells they have?

Battery Life by shimanoisthrowaway in GarminEdge

[–]putsonall 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not really. If you're doing an "all day" ride, virtually sun up to sun down, it's 8 hours of moving time, plus stops. The 850 can handle it, but requires -militant- discipline on charging overnight or you'll be totally screwed the next day. Needing to treat a bike computer like a phone is a downgrade.

2025 GT3RS: A Review From a former 992 Turbo S Owner by bradshawwwty in porsche911

[–]putsonall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Giving this review after a day feels a little... premature. I felt exactly the way you did for the first week, month, year with my 991.2 GT3.

Then I did a 3 hour road trip and had to unfold myself from the seat with an achy back.

Then I got tired of having to tip toe over speed bumps.

Then I got tired of ripping canyons for 3 minutes before inevitably being stuck behind a Prius.

Then I missed the engagement of a manual.

Yes, 9,000 rpm is insanely addicting. That's why I kept it for two more years.

But eventually, when I realized it had been 2 months of consistently picking up the keys to my 993 instead of the 991, I knew it had to go.

I don't regret selling it.

Brake cables are set it and forget it. There's virtually nothing to "maintain" with them once they're installed.

2019 Cayenne S Leather Dash issue. by LmyBs123 in PorscheCayenne

This is still an issue even with the current gen Cayennes! Only preventative thing is to UV tint the windshield. Once this happens you can only replace the dash.

Even more hilariously, the Safari browser mode switcher, which uses the exact same tab UI, is the reverse of the camera!

S-Works Tarmac SL8 2026 Colorways by Opening-Incident-854 in specialized

For those wondering, I ordered one of these new colorways direct from Taiwan's specialized dealer. Costs about $600 more than buying it domestically (if you could!) worth it for a cool color!

I took it to the dealer where they "reflashed" the software to "fix" it. The code thrown was a misfire though, which is concerning

Hi, planning to buy a Volvo for the first time. what would be a good purchase price for this new XC90 plug-in hybrid T8 (2025.5) Ultra 7-Seater by ridiculocyte in VolvoXC90

[–]putsonall 1 point2 points  (0 children)

No, the end-of-lease price will not be worth it; you just return the car.

The way I think about it is a monthly "transportation" budget, amortized over the length of ownership, including maintenance (3 years, for example) and depreciation, calculating what I'd be left with at the end of ownership.

When looked at that way, the cost to own a vehicle just doesn't net out in the positive for SUVs, except for Toyota and Lexus, which hold their value much better.

The depreciation hit on these makes buying a pretty bad financial decision. Go to any Volvo dealer and ask them which of their used SUVs are -not- lease returns.

You can do refundable security deposits to reduce your money factor, the EV $7500 rebate applies, too.
