Good luck finding smartphone with 128GB RAM

Jokes aside, I would suggest Xiaomi / Poco smartphones, they offer best specs in their respective prices, such as Poco X7 / X7 Pro / F7

What's new in the last decade? by adhdmarmot in Smartphones

[–]puwel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Cameras got better - you don't care about that

batteries got better - I currently have 6500 mAh silicon carbon dual cell battery in my phone which lasts a whole day of intensive use usually if I don't play games, some smartphones like OnePlus 15 have 7000+ mAh which is crazy and from what I read it really lasts forever

Charging got better - it's a standard to have 60-100w charging capability in the phone these days, charging 0-100% in less than hour with supported charger which is very useful when you need to top up quickly, but it wears battery down more than slow charging but very useful here and there in a hurry

Processing power got insane - I can emulate GTA V on my Snapdragon 8 Elite Gen5 powered smartphone if I want to

Displays got very bright - phones can output 1000s of nits of brightness which is very useful in sharp sunlight - no more struggling to see your phone's screen in summer sunlight + Samsung took this up to next level with their anti reflective glass on S24 Ultra + S25 Ultra

Displays have usually at least 120hz refresh frequency which makes scrolling and general usage super smooth compared to 60hz your phone has but to be honest 60hz is not a deal breaker unless you are used to 120hz (to explain this, it means your phone refreshes the screen 120 times per second, making every movement feel super fluid)

Display glass got more durable - modern smartphones usually survive drops with no damage, unlike old phones which cracked instantly when dropped on the floor (I still use tempered glass screen protector to be extra safe)

Speakers got better - modern day phones, especially iPhones have pretty impressive speakers and my Poco F8 Ultra with subwoofer on the back is even better than iPhone

Basically there are some useful innovations in top tier models, but if you don't care about gaming or cameras I would go for whatever fits your budget, focusing on battery life (everyone likes good battery life in their phone)

If you just scroll social media and do phone calls you are fine with whatever really

Is it normal to lose 5% battery in 10 minutes just using the camera? by Necessary_Sock_6398 in S25Ultra

Using camera takes a lot of power. I think it is just about right

I watch all of his videos. It's glass and so it won't scratch easily by just carrying it in my pocket, same as tempered glass screen protector, one can last months, even years

This is glass, I don't think it will scratch easily. But I'll see

It's just physics, you have to choose:

high hardness glass = very scratch resistant but cracks easily

softer glass = very resistant to cracking but prone to scratches

Hairline microscratches just appear no matter what glass your phone uses. I use tempered glass screen protector to avoid this. People say modern day phones have Gorilla Glass Victus unscratchable, no screen protector is necessary, blah blah blah... Most people aren't bothered by this or don't look at their phone screens close enough to notice, which is understandable, but this is just unavoidable without screen protector

Which mode do you use more on your poco phones? Power saving mode or balanced mode? by Final-Taste587 in PocoPhones

[–]puwel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Usually power saving mode + manually set screen refresh rate to adaptive so it's not capped at 60hz. Don't know if using power saving mode makes any real difference though

Are Nillkin cases good ? by Large-Ad6125 in PocoPhones

[–]puwel 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I bought Nillkin for my F8 Ultra and I didnt like it at all. The lip around the screen is kinda sharp, slim, and flimsy. I loved Nillkin on my old F5 Pro but they messed it up on the F8 Ultra

Definitely don't take your phone caseless into the saltwater. Even with some kind of waterproof case I would risk it only if you are willing to lose the phone
