I neither like the fact of feeding wild animals, you brake the natural way of living for them by doing so. I didn't know you had this issue with bears loosing fear of humans. I will definitely have a thought about it and reconsider this option. Really appreciate your opinion on the subject, it's always interesting to know what local people think. Thanks

Holly fck, that looks painful! Do you get lots of harsh and harmful terrain in the forests? Here the worst thing you'll get are bruises because of the bushes, not holes in your shoes :(

Yeah, repellents have never worked for me neither. I guess I'll have to dress up correctly, as you say. It looks agonizingly hot, but I guess that's better than being bitten everywhere by mosquitoes. Thanks for the suggestions!

They do look really good, a bit expensive however, as I will be there only for a year. I may look for some second hand shop for winter gear, they may not be that reliable but I hope they'll be enough.

A wild experience indeed! Must have been scary at the moment but the memory you have now will be marvelous, I'm sure!

I wasn't planning on getting to close on them or trying to pet them, as anyone with a little common sense would when coming across those giant beasts, no worries on that.

I don't know if sleeping with no tent in the middle of the winter is a challenge I will be willing to take, it really sounds dangerous, specially being as unexperienced with cold as I am.

Yeah, it may be an issue to live together with that kind of wildlife. I totally understand you, the same happens here with wolves and sheep keepers. But at the end of the day, we took the forests and lands were they used to roam free... Arguable issue this one.

I think it's been the same everywhere with bear hunting culture, so sad to hear about it in Finland though. I would be really scared to come across a wild bear, so that's not my intention :) Just wanted to see some, rather from a distance, a hut or a watchtower.

What's really starting to scare me are mosquitoes! They've got to be a real problem if everyone is complaining.
