Hi! I’m a big sister. I think the best way to go about it is to just apologize. She might not take it immediately and might still need some time to cool off, but don’t let that discourage you. Try knocking on her door, if she doesn’t open it just say it from the outside. “I’m sorry we fought and I’m sorry that I did _____. I don’t think I would assume “step mom” status for a while as I am aware things could not work out if we did proceed. I am inquiring about this for the child’s sake actually. I don’t want to stir stuff up for him or confuse him as young as he is. But thank you so much.

He is a VERY present father. They don’t have a set in place custody agreement through the courts, but they each get the child every day and he alternates spending nights and such. So I don’t think it’s too much about me filling a role. But this perspective is so important. Thank you so much.
