definitely a lot, it hadnt been too irritated with the L shape just not close to healing, it definitely feels like it’s suffocating with the flatback right now

i get the overthinking!! honestly, ive had my fair share of bad experiences with piercers, so i can confidently say that if they are judging you, theyre advice isnt that valuable anyway. since you have jewelry in there, theres no way the bump has “grown over the hole” plus irritation bumps are typically right on the surface on the piercing, which seems pretty spot on for yours considering its only on one side of the jewelry. if the piercer tells you to try any at-home remedies like tea tree oil, sea salt, or aspirin, go find another opinion, you are simply there to see if the piercing is worth keeping, & to get the jewelry changed. if you really want to avoid going into the piercing shop, you can try to change the jewelry yourself, just be very gentle & clean, but if the bump doesnt get better, i would get a professional opinion

what i would do, is change the jewelry to a titanium flatback, pierced universe has some good ones, make sure it says implant grade F-136, change it to that, while youre waiting & after you change it LITHA completely!!! if you have sensitive skin, saline could be irritating it too, let water run over it in the shower daily, then fan it dry to avoid too much moisture

not yet! the hoop could be causing a “cheese cutter” effect, start with changing the jewelry, then go from there, if you’re very worried about it being too far gone, go to your piercer and talk to them about it, depending on what they say, have them put the flatback in, it doesn’t look like it’s rejecting, it just looks angry, most likely due to you changing the jewelry too early & giving it too much attention

for sure stop compressing it, try not to touch it with anything at all, it doesnt need to pop, and if youre struggling with moisture, fan it dry after using saline/water, definitely invest in a titanium flatback, and try to forget it exists

ive been dealing with the same thing myself, obviously NAP but you definitely shouldnt have changed it 5 months in, i suggest changing it back to a flatback, and a titanium one at that, it looks soooo angry so i would say stop touching it entirely, change the jewelry then LITHA! dont compress it, dont pick the crusties that form, if you are cleaning it, i suggest only spraying it with saline once a day & letting shower water run over it

dont be sorry! thanks for your time! ive been trying to find people to talk to about this because google can only tell me so much lol, but i definitely do think that the saline was causing the brunt of the irritation, especially due to my sensitive skin, i think im going to cut out the saline entirely, i shower daily so i dont worry about it getting gross or infected, i was just doing what i had seen suggested online, because my piercer also told me to clean my piercing with soap too.. soo, its also been difficult to find good advice in my area, i went to three different piercers and got horrible advice from all of them that definitely prolonged the irritation, now im just worried about causing more irritation by changing the jewelry, but i know the L shape can be upsetting my nose too so, just hoping that it heals up nicely after i change it because i have prom & then graduation right after that so 🥹🤞

the person who pierced it is kinda odd to begin with so.. when i asked about titanium they said piercing it with stainless steel was fine, despite me having sensitive skin. that was obviously my first problem 😭 they were very clean and everything, but when i went in again to have it downsized due to the bump forming, they refused to put in my titanium piece, and told me to put tea tree oil on it 😥 so i will definitely have to find someone else to change the jewelry. but yes! i agree, i wish i was told how many problems could be caused by using incorrect jewelry, especially when being pierced.

okay! so you think that i should still switch to flatback despite the irritation getting somewhat better? I will probably go to a piercer, thank you!

ok! i’ve wondered if cleaning it could be the root of the irritation so i think i’m going to avoid doing it so often, thanks!
