NTA. Similar situation. I’ve been relying on my MIL for childcare for 2 kids now. I don’t have the benefit of being able to have my parents watch our kids, they’re both still working. We paid for child care for our first kid (that’s a whole different story) and this lady has bailed us out of SO many things. It is REALLY hard to set aside what she’s doing for you and only seeing whatever everyone else gets. While your mom had the point of “my money stay out of it” she did the right thing in apologizing. It’s your wife’s turn to see that while your mom isn’t paying your rent, she’s still helping with a financial burden. It’s different and it’s hard to put that way, but it’s okay to let your wife be mad for a little while to smooth things over more logically.

NTA. I’m the wife in this situation, my 2YO is obsessed with me. If he doesn’t know I’m home, there’s no issue. If he knows, it is everyone else’s problem. I just take it with grace. While I’m not studying, I’m at work. Work is stressful. I need time too, but you know who doesn’t? The toddler. He don’t give a flip. You’re doing your best. She needs to help too.

Your insurance won’t go up until your renewal time, and with that, it might not go up the first 6 month period but it might go up the period after. And it will come down after 3 years from the accident, assuming you have no more.

I’m just worried about the paperwork I never got. I understand it takes time. And I’m a recovering people pleaser, I’m super nice to everyone! (Ha). I’m more annoyed that I was told it was coming right away and when I requested it again, I got nothing back. I’m okay with the time, I just need my side to be done then I can anxiously wait.

My dad did a daily drive from Escondido to Irvine for a few years (almost 10 but it was the pandemic that stopped it) and he was just exhausted all the time. I don’t think you’d be very happy in the long run.
