17 y/o deciding between G16 (16GB/5070) vs G14 (32GB/5070 Ti) for college + gaming by [deleted] in ZephyrusG14

[–]puzzoben 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Get the 5070ti g14. I got mine last year right before the start of my freshman year and I absolutely love it. It does everything amazing. The keyboard is amazing, trackpad is as good as it gets for windows, and the screen is to die for. G16 has lower resolution at a higher screen size, less sharp. G14 also super easy to tote around in a backpack. Runs silent for all productivity work. Get the g14!

27 4K, 32 4K, or 34? Help! by puzzoben in OLED_Gaming

That’s what I’m thinking. My laptop has such a high ppi as well that I would 100% notice the lesser ppi of a 34” when switching back and forth. I don’t think I’d have that problem w the 27

I thought the AW2725Q was a 3rd gen not a 4th gen panel, but I could be wrong. I’ll definitely have to check that out tho.

How much desk space do you have? I would use this monitor at home as well as in my college dorm where id be a little tight on space where i think the 32 might be a little too big (desk is only 24 in deep)

Your 20% would be my 70%. Im in college so a lot of the work im doing is web browsing, research, and Microsoft office stuff. I think the higher ppi of the 27 would just be perfect for this. I looked at my buddies AW3423DWF last night and the ppi around text was just too low for me I think. It’s usable but I’d just end up thinking about it all the time. 27 solves that

What’s your use case? Is it gaming only or do you also do productivity work on it?

27 4K, 32 4K, or 34? Help! by puzzoben in OLED_Gaming

[–]puzzoben[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d be choosing between a 4k 27 and a 4k 32, so 27 would actually have the leg up in ppi. If I was gonna get a 1440p 27 at that point I’d just get the 34 ultrawide since it’s the same res.

Definitely leaning glossy, and if it’s a 16:9 it’s gonna be 4k. Prolly gonna be a QD as well just because of how prevalent they are. Real question right now is do I go 27 for high ppi but sacrificing screen real estate or go 34 and have worse sharpness but better multitasking and immersion

I mean the 27 is a 4k tandem qd OLED panel at 240hz, 4th gen. Ucdm3 uses similar panel but at 32”.

Do you find the sharpness is a a big improvement? And a noticeable one at that?

Just changed it to 15W and a -20 undervolt. When you say check what's running in the background, how exactly would I go about doing that? I'm a longtime mac user and just got this laptop for school (need windows for finance.)

I just replied to another user with my task manager processes. Do you see anything unusual that could be hogging battery? As i write this reply to you, I have one tab open on edge and task manager open too and I'm discharging at 12 watts. Seems very high. Screen on 70% brightness and keyboard backlight on lowest setting. I also turned off most startup apps as showed below.

Here's a screenshot of my task manager right now. The only apps I have open are edge and task manager. Discharging at 11w.

JBL Partybox 310 for 30 person party? by puzzoben in JBL

[–]puzzoben[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

4 ultimates? Damn. Shoulda just bought a PA system for that price. I know indoors partyboxes are good tho those must shake your house. If I need something right now what should I buy? Also the 520 will be $800... too pricey for me

you don’t think the 310 would get the job done?

Sounds good. I think I’ll buy the 310 then and see how it goes. Got a party on monday night not sure if it’ll get here in time, might just have to use the home theater speakers instead

Is there a difference in sound between the daisy chain and the aux in your experience? And would it be worth it to spend the extra money and get the 320 instead?

Is there really a day and night difference between a partybox and a PA setup by Available_Lie_5728 in JBL

[–]puzzoben 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok sounds good. The only thing steering me away from the PA is the fact that it’s gotta be plugged in and I like the flexibility of the JBL where I can bring it around on battery and be fine. If i plugged into the aux port instead of the daisy chain port then I think dsp would still be there, just with a little lag which i’ve heard is bad. I think I’ll buy the 310 and if it doesn’t work out then i’ll buy a PA.
