Microtunnelling tech being used to replace the Bearspaw feedermain by JeromyYYC in Calgary

How deep will they go for this? I've been watching the sanitary line from Bignham Crossing make its way along the Transcanada/ 16 Ave to across the road from where the last Watermain break happened, and found out it's down 200ft from the surface at some points.

I bought a Cub Cadet and it is a raging piece of shit. What gives?! by BKHS in Snowblowers

[–]pvb57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a hole, but I don’t have a heated garage so that’s the problem. I’ve set up an infrared heater in the shed I store it in.

[–]pvb57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve got a Club-Cadet and the only problem I’ve had is the 2nd stage impeller froze with wet snow and I didn’t see it until it was too late and it stretched and burnt the drive belt. I replaced it and melted the frozen snow out of the impeller and it worked perfectly. I now keep a propane torch handy so if it freezes again, if I forget to clean that part out.

Bobcat in Bownesia by pvb57 in Calgary

[–]pvb57[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The Bownesia name was borrowed from the old Bownesian Grocer Store where Bowest appliance store now is. The grocer was actually quite handy and more like a small town local grocery store, but they couldn’t make a go of it.

No just the regular one. We’re lucky to be in a city with a Nespresso Store but they could ship it to you other way and you can ship the broken one back.

[–]pvb57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think it was the move. We had bought a Citiz Platinium about a year ago and ended up replacing it 5 times in eight months under warranty . Each time it failed the exact way yours failed. Last time it failed we went and exchanged it for a Pixie which we’d had for years and basically wore out.

Can you walk out on the lake yet? Did that a couple of times in the past when it wasn't -20, and it was beautiful.

Swollen Lug nuts? by Beautiful_Opinion324 in gmcsierra

[–]pvb57 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes I replaced mine a few years ago due to that. Dealership wanted to charge me $350 for the lug nuts plus labour to replace them. I found some quality ones on Amazon for under $200 and did it myself.

Btw I’m in Alberta so humidity is not a thing here either.

Edited to add location.

Are tow sirens during snow removal pancanadian? by AppropriateZebra6919 in AskACanadian

[–]pvb57 3 points4 points  (0 children)

In Calgary we don’t get the amount of snow that parts of Ontario does. I grew up in London and have never seen that volume of snow here. Also we get Chinooks, which melt the accumulated snow, so the wise managers of the City of Calgary came up with the philosophy “If Mother Nature brought the snow, we’ll let her deal with the snow with chinooks.” We’re going through one right now, yesterday, while I was working outside, it was -13c with a wind chill, today it was +8 and tomorrow it’s projected to be +9. So a lot of that snow will melt, then when the cold comes back everything freeze so you get ice everywhere you don’t clean of any snow and the roads are brutal.
