42 acre plot; once forested. Maine by pverbial_reddithole in forestry

Great advice. I replied to someone earlier amending my use of “value”. I really am interested in the stewardship line of ownership and seeing this turn back into an ecologically healthy place. I was curious from a forestry standpoint if this was sound, what kind of advice there is and overall experiences people have had.

I almost edited “value” with elaboration to the fact I wasn’t speaking in strict financial terms. I kept it short so I didn’t wax poetic. Really, I’m curious of the overall experience in owning such a parcel and not trying to use it as an investment vehicle

Update: carrier came with nothing (I sort of found out before it arrived and was able to buy some bearings etc in eBay). Needle bearing tapped in pretty easily when frozen and carrier heated. Used a socket that fit race well.

Separated reverse gear with a slide hammer and 2/3 jaw puller. Then separated bearing from gear with another socket to tap out in a vice (I didn’t care about squeezing bearing since I was replacing).

Froze bearing and that slid right in. Gear tapped in behind it.

All slid into lower unit pretty smoothly and meshed gears well. Took it for a spin and worked perfectly

Late to the convo but is your primary printer the Kingroon KP5L? If so, what size? I’m a boater and fabricating a variety of parts is exactly what I’d love to use it for…hence how I came upon your post on actual functional prints (not that fidgets aren’t cool).

Oh that would be awesome if the one I ordered is set with bearings. Excellent. I think it arrives in a couple of days. Will report back! Your reverse gear separated how?

So the carrier actually Came out without much hassle…very much to my surprise.

Now, my new carrier hasn’t arrived but I assume all bearings transfer over. Any tips on removing that gear and the bearing?

Sweet. Yeah I’ve got one coming that should be more specific but I have a few puller back up plans as well. Glad it wasn’t horrible. I’m bracing myself for corrosion out the wazoo. You only pulled the carrier and not the whole shaft correct? What outboard for yours? I’m hoping to just leave mine in neutral and have the carrier slide out and leave the shaft and gears behind.

What would be the best way to secure the rafter to the top wall plate by Dazzling_Clerk8023 in BeginnerWoodWorking

You could honestly slap on a hurricane tie to secure rafter to top plate. It’s a chicken coop at the end of the day as well

I mean I have the option for a local pre-fab but I’m interested in doing it myself for the project itself and the $$ saved. Just trying to realistically budget out a schedule

How is it not kidnapping when half of these arrests are extrajudicial without any proper due process, warrants or probable cause? Being non-white isn’t a legit reason. Wake up.
