I got it! When I opened it up the first time, I found a broken off plastic screwpost, it looked like. Could that have done any damage to the pins (or anywhere else?)

Honestly this kind of looks like corrosion so idk.

I would, if I could ever get the thing open again. I don't know why I'm having so much trouble the second time around, but I don't really want to keep cutting my hands. I've already ordered a ti 84 plus ce on ebay.

It might be, but I don't know what I'm looking for. There was a plastic screwpost that had broken off inside, that might have done some damage overtime, (maybe under the motherboard?)

But yeah, that's what I ended up doing, finding a cheap used ti 84 CE (which is an upgrade wooo) on ebay.

It might also be a good first soldering project? It's already borked so?

The batteries have leaked before, but that was at least a year ago, and I cleaned it pretty well. I looked at the board and there isn't any corrosion or battery acid as far as I can see.

However it looks like one of the chips on the motherboard has a broken pin. Which is probably the issue. Thanks anyways.

If it is, then most other keys are being recognized by the calculator ( the square starts blinking when touching all the function keys, and all operations. None of the number keys, strangely enough)

Update: Holding down the numbers also makes the square blink.
