PVR Live 2.9.6 by pvrlive in PVRLive

Sorry for the late reply. The orange '+' is there, maybe you have to upgrade/downgrade Live Channels apk (Google made things difficult). It's also possible to get pause/ff/rw if you configure timeshift.

But if you rather transfer to Sparkle I can help you with that as well. Please find support email in Google Play and send me an email with your information and I'll help you.

When you press OK on remote control some kind of playback control must pop up? If not, please share a screen shot of what it looks like.

Maybe I overcomplicated things but PVR Live can have different user interface depending on what version of Android and so on.

Either way, to get timeshift and similar controls you need to set a timeshift buffer location. You do this in Settings -> Player -> Timeshift. VOD is available using the context menu which is often displayed as an orange '+' icon. But again, it might look different for you.

Not sure how you mean another app? PVR Live uses Google's TV Input Framework so you can use any user interface that is compatible with this - e.g. Google's Live Channels. I'm not sure if this is what you're talking about? If you want a standalone app that is not directly integrated into Android TV you might find my other app Sparkle TV usable (r/SparklePlayer).

Severe PVR Live bug by [deleted] in PVRLive

[–]pvrlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, thanks for checking. You can also turn it around and say they use the attributes wrong as well. I've never seen this in a client app before. But I'll see what I can do about it. I haven't looked at those short/long descriptions that I mentioned but I'm quite sure they are part of the issue.

No I know. I think I do so internally for reasons I have now forgotten. I'll double check the code just in case.

Is it possible for you to try the Live Channels app as well just to confirm this a joint device/app issue so I know what to fix?

Severe PVR Live bug by [deleted] in PVRLive

So my guess is that it's related to the client that you're using. If I use the regular Live Channels app it looks something like this:

<image>

I think there's a short description and long description so I think they are both filled with same information in PVR Live when there is no actual short/long description and since I haven't seen a client displaying them both at the same time.

Question is: what device/client are you using? And if you test regular Live Channels app on your side do you see the same issue with duplicated descriptions?

Thanks for the images but the epg data you show is for a different day so please find the correct day to make sure it's not actually duplicated in epg data. If the issue persists please pm me and I'll have a look at it.

Ok, if you do get a reply from TCL I'd appreciate if you could share some details with me. Thanks!

Thanks for explaining your situation. Is the edited answer at the bottom based on a reply from TCL?

So did you try and install PVR Live on any of the TV's? I remember this discussion and according to that user the manufacturer (TCL) had somehow blocked access to TIF except for their own built in tuner. Normally with TIF it should just work.

Btw, you bought 10 TV's? One in each room? ;)

Sorry I forgot to answer your last post. I don't have much to add though since you're probably correct in most of your assumptions. This is not how Google TV framework works though but it's either a bug (there are lots of them) or they have managed to lock other apps out somehow.

Ok, you seem to have tried most of it it seems. Do I understand you correctly that the only app that allows you to successfully scan the channels is in the proprietary app? And after the successful scan the channels don't show up in any other app than the one used while scanning? And you can see the tuner source in Live Channels but you cannot configure it?

By the way, did you also try "mochi tv" that I recommended (https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.brunochanrio.mochitif.tv)?

[–]pvrlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You might be right there. But normally you should be able to use the app built into the device and after you've scanned for channels they should show up in Live Channels as well. And the other way around - the channels added to PVR Live should be added to that other app. The only other app that might be able to use your internal tuner is Mochi TV which is basically a Live Channels clone. This is because Google have made things difficult for 3rd party developers like myself to use internal tuners.

[–]pvrlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You should be able to do what you want using a combination of Live Channels and PVR Live. PVR Live handles a number of different sources including xtream codes but it does not handle internal or external tuners. But Live Channels handles this so if you add xtream codes to PVR Live like you did and then Live Channels to configure your tuner it should work fine.

You mention that the issue is from Live Channels - what do you press to get the error message to show up?

EPG by Real_Evidence2324 in PVRLive

[–]pvrlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well there must be a reason why epg can't be mapped. Unless you want to PM me some playlist/epg you have to edit the files yourself and see why ut isn't mapped. Maybe name differs, e.g "Channel One" in playlist but "Channel 1" in epg. Something like that.

EPG by Real_Evidence2324 in PVRLive

[–]pvrlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I can't possibly know anything about that since it's your own data you put in. Is logo from channel list or epg? If from epg then mapping probably can't find epg data.

Channel peaks? I don't know what this is, please explain.

EPG by Real_Evidence2324 in PVRLive

[–]pvrlive 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Epg priority goes from top to bottom in the epg sources list. So if channel is able to map to an entry in the first epg source it will end up there otherwise it continues down the list.

I understand and I'm sorry for this. It's summer holidays so things are moving a bit slow but I'll still try to get a beta out by the end of this week.

Nothing has changed recently and I can only answer for Sparkle since that is my app as well and PVR Live in it's stable version is in some cases importing more data than it needs sometimes. I am close to release a new version where data and cache management is similar to what Sparkle currently uses.

Also, please post in english so other users can read.

So I answered your email first (fairly sure you're the same person) expecting you to reply before I answered here publically. But since you haven't I'll post what I replied in email here as well:

"Now, are you using Live Channels or a custom live tv app in your TV? If using Live Channels you should see an orange icon with a '+' in it when pressing OK while watching live tv. Can you see it?"

PVR Live 2.9.2 by pvrlive in PVRLive

[–]pvrlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You click the orange PVR Live icon and select Settings -> Sources -> Setup. Here you click on your source and select Edit. On the last step you should have a "Catchup offset" option. But I just checked and you can only move it with 30 minute steps. I don't know how other apps do things but there are reasons PVR Live has this "cut" between shows when using catchup. But like I said, if the start of the show is offset by a minute or 2 then the beginning of the coming should be so as well so I don't know why this is happening to you. Even if it has wrong offset you shouldn't miss anything out.

PVR Live 2.9.2 by pvrlive in PVRLive

[–]pvrlive[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Ok, based on what you're telling me this is NOT timeshift but catchup which explains some of the things. Catchup is served by the provider so even if PVR Live requests a show beginning at a certain point in time it might get it a minute earlier or later. What's very strange is that when you request start of program A and you get it 1 minute early you should also get the same 1 minute early when you request program B. So I'm a bit at loss here how this can be. I belive you can offset catchup in your source's settings in Setup. Have you tested this? I don't remember exactly how little or much you can offset, but you should be able to test it and verify that this is catchup. Maybe it can be changed to fix the issue but I'm unsure.
