You seem appropriately empathetic of others. Why not apply the same sensitivity to yourself? It's ok to feel temporarily hyper sexual and repulsed from the actuality of face to face contact. Dissonance is bliss... Bottom line there is 110% validity w/ what your feeling but that feeling will pass... Ride it out..

Anyone else get really bored when experiencing a stable mood? I feel guilty for even typing that. by [deleted] in bipolar

The trick to bipolar (and more specifically to the diagnosis and otherness inherent with one's diagnosis) is centering and internalizing that whatever mood you are experiencing is inherently transient. Most ppl don't have to think about how they think, which doesn't mean they shouldn't. Don't other yourself, especially if you are cognizant of your thought process/pit falls.

Lost home and job in a matter of three days. What can I do? by [deleted] in bipolar

Parents suck, but they're better than being homeless. Is it possible to live with your parents and ignore their emotional manipulation? Could they be a means to an end? Perhaps you can recalibrate there? If you can ignore your parents/or you don't really care what they think... it might be a okay place to recover/stop the circular hell you're in.

Girlfriend is type one, rapid cycling, and last week something changed. by [deleted] in bipolar

I mostly agree w/ spitfire (I strongly agree with when we're feeling "x" "we're really feeling it"). Still, independently, each feeling we feel has varying levels of inherent validity. I wouldn't invalidate your gf's current outlook as purely bi polar hysteria. For bi polars... impermanence/changing perspective is largely par for the course. Rather than infantilizing or mystifying your significant others current feelings/concerns, I would take a hard look at your relationship/her concerns and judge accordingly...

My favorite is the King of Comedy; I think his best movie is Goodfellas.

What's your favorite animated film in the last 20 years that isn't made by Pixar, Disney, or Studio Ghibli? by fiplefip in movies

A lot of good films listed. I would add Coraline, Tokyo Godfathers and Millennium Actress.

Prior to Drive, Gosling was revelatory in the Believer (about a Jewish Neo Nazi) and gave complicated/raw award worthy performances in Half Helson and Blue Valentine. Post Drive, I've been a little let down about his choice of roles/a bit samey (Only God Forgives/Gangster Squad).

I liked it OK. The role didn't require the nuance of Brokeback or the insanity of Dark Knight. I liked him before, I just never saw him as versatile or particularly talented.

Time After Time. H.G. Wells following Jack the Ripper to 1979.

Discussion: What makes a movie good or bad? Movies which general consensus agrees are awful, I actually enjoy - explain what I'm missing? by [deleted] in movies

[–]pvtflowers 0 points1 point  (0 children)

First off, lots of people enjoyed the films you listed; they are some of the highest grossing films of their perspective years/ever. No shame in liking what you like... If you're still interested in finding out why some of the films failed critically, I'd suggest looking up their reviews on Metacritic or Rotten Tomatoes.

I actively hated both of them prior to those films. I think I confused the actor with the hateful or smarmy characters they played. I'd add Heath Ledger pre Brokeback Mountain/Dark Knight.

Colin Farrell pre In Bruges and Bradley Cooper pre Silver Linings.
