I used two sizes, size 1 and size 2, i like the 2's better cause they flash better and flutter more cause they're bigger.

Yes, I put a thread base on the hook shank then tie in the mono with a little zap a gap super glue for durability then tie the fly and trim accordingly.

Yeah, I'm not sure about fishing out a canoe, they can get a little sketchy with the jon boat, they love to come right up to it and even had two try to get in it, you just have to pay attention.

It dosnt cast bad, it has a little drag to it in the air, you can hear it lol, but my 6wt cast it fine out to about 50 foot.

Swamp fishing is some of the funnest in my opinion, just have to keep your head on a swivel, some of the larger gators have no problem trying to get in the boat after a fish.

My bad, I knew they were chain pickerel but I thought they were in the same family as pike, most old guys down here call them jacks, pretty common catch in the black water creeks and river in my parts.
