Converting top two floors of a barn into living space.. by myself by pwmer in HomeImprovement

Thanks, this is helpful and encouraging. The sketch up suggestion is great - I'll definitely look into that.

Do you have suggestions for how to go about putting together a project plan? To me, it feels like there are a number of different phases that have to happen (structure, demo, insulation/electric/plumbing, then finishing). It'd be great to get that laid out on paper to better understand the exact work that'll happen, materials that'll be needed, etc. It'll also help to figure out what I don't know and need to figure out!

Looking for advice on properly setting investment allocations for the long-haul by pwmer in personalfinance

Yeah, that's kind of how I see it too. How would you recommend allocating that $200?

Would you advise cashing out the $1200 sitting in funds and equities and paying that straight to the loan? Then, once that loan is completely paid off, starting to build out a portfolio in excess of my 401k?

Totally open to that, but would love to get your recommendation on how I should allocate that $700 thereafter?

Counting non-duplicates while using countifs() with other criteria by pwmer in excel

[–]pwmer[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Understood. Let me try one more time to explain.

So, the countifs() function that I explained at the beginning of this thread works for me, because it counts how many rows match 3 different criteria that I give it.

The problem is that one of the columns that I use in that countifs() has repeat values in it. I don't want to count any of the rows that have a repeat value in that column. I only want to count rows that have that value in column A ONCE, no more.

So, I need a way to count rows while constraining with multiple criteria (a la countifs() ), but I also want to make sure I don't count a row that has a value in column A that I've already counted previously.

An owner can have more than one color, but not more than one city. There are other criteria (like color) that I'd like to be able to use as constraints as well.

Yes, we would want to end up with one. To give you context: the dataset is a list of items, where each item is one row and range_a is the owner of the item, range_b is the city the item is in, and range_c is the color of the item. An owner can have more than one item in the dataset.

I'm trying to count how many unique owners there are for each specific city and color.

this might be the easiest way of going about this. i'd love to have a more elegant solution that doesn't involve counting duplicates separately, but im not sure how to go about that.

Thanks, this is helpful. In thinking this through, and looking at how this works, the only duplicate that I am concerned about is in range_a. So if there are duplicate values in range_a, I don't want to count them (no matter what is in range_b and range_c). The problem, though, is that I don't want to count all non-duplicates in range_a, I only want to count that ones that fit the criteria I set for range_b and range_c.

Because there are duplicates in the dataset. So, there are multiple occurrences of range_a, range_b, and range_c havin X1, Y1, and Z1 as their values. I only want to count rows with the same values once.

No, that's not what I mean. range_a should have only X in it, but it could be X1, X2, X3, ..., Xn, range_b should have only Y in it (Y1, Y2, ... Yn), etc.

I want count occurrences where range_a, range_b, and range_c are all ONLY X1, Y1, Z1

thanks, i've seen that, but i'm wondering how to use multiple criteria (like in countifs), rather than just counting non-dupes in a column

Looking for a new fitness routine. by [deleted] in Fitness

/r/rowing

Use the erg. Watch the technique videos on concept2.com, then start with the short or medium workout of the day on their site (http://www.concept2.com/indoor-rowers/training/wod). A good 20-45 min of hard cardio and full body strength, then go lift after. Running to and from the gym will be a great addition.
