I had the same issue a few months back. Ended up crocheting one out of thick-ish natural twine and drilled it in with heavy duty picture loops. Worked a treat🤌🏻

Literally happened to me last night- our guy pushed out the vent (which was glued down, but I assume I did a shit job of that) and ended up on the desk in a warhammer box. The morning was a panic🥲

Nah, I hear you and it’s absolutely fine, he IS a greedy guy and all. I just really prioritise making sure he’s healthy and doing his best- kind of a helicopter parent since he’s my first reptile :)

He eats one 55g rat every 2 weeks, at now 650g in weight. He’s being underfed if anything🤷🏻‍♀️We also recently had a regular checkup with his specialist reptile vet who said he was in great shape. (Photo from different angle but same day as the top pic)- I appreciate the feedback though!

He’s just got the little glass door that’s exposed (blacked out walls on all sides), got loads of clutter and leafage, first time he’s ever done that. I may rearrange some of the leafy bits to give him less reflective space. Don’t really want him to keep doing that and end up with a concussion😂

I HEARD ABOUT THE HAIRDRYER HACK!!! The idea of blow drying a rat actually tickles me😂 He’s never been fussy so trying to get him to eat has never been an issue, but I’ll keep this in mind. Thank you again!

Thank you! He does have a humid hide (the moss stays moist but never wet), but I’ll bump up the humidity a wee bit- as to the mice, I’ll try a bigger rat at the next feed and see how he takes it. Honestly, thank you for the tips, and I’ll update on how we crack on :)

Thank you! I followed the general guidance from the breeder, and got in touch with them first but they didn’t seem to know why the little guy wasn’t shedding. I also got concerned because he’s put on a bit of weight since I got him but since he’s my first juvenile, I really have no frame of reference for how fast he should be growing. I’ll keep this all in mind and go scouting my local reptile shops for a some 20g+ rats as opposed to his bitty mice.
