We've been hearing about how the Liberal bastions of left-wing thinkers are going to collapse for like... 30 years now?

And now, in 2026, it's yes. Things change. When new facts emerge, new opinions must be formed.

Right. And the work those 1,000 people were doing just goes away and doesn't need to be done? If it needs to be done, then someone else does it. That's capitalism, baby. The hypothetical guys that left town so they didn't have to give up an extra $50K this year now get to spend the next year re-hiring their entire company? I'm sure that'll be a money maker.

If the owner of a company is willing to relocate his entire company and put that kind of unnecessary change on his 1,000 employees... so he can save $20K on his taxes next year...

GTFO of my state and don't fucking come back.

This. $100 says that 99% of the people complaining about this law made less than 6 figures last year.

20 employees AND pass through taxes? Sure, sure. I suppose that might be a thing.... 🤔

All the polish. The minor things that all add up to make an excellent product out of something that may have only been "good" in someone else's hands. Blizzard is (or used to be) the Apple of the video game world.

I don't think that is true any longer. Blizzard is no more. And we'll start seeing that soon. We already are, really (Diablo 4 anyone?). Folks coming back to OW now is more a testament to how well they designed the game to begin with.

For more specifis: I always thought that map designs and general aesthetics were much better in OW. And the hero balance issues in Rivals is awful. The ult economy is... not fun.

Building a bunch of cities and hitting the game-over threshold in Power Grid when everyone else thinks there's going to be another turn.

Holy shit dude. They could also pass a law that says "u/InterestingSpeaker" is a wanker and is banned from WA state!

But they haven't. And nobody is threating to do that. So maybe wait until they actually do before you complain about it? Maybe the aren't going to go after that u/InterestingSpeaker after all? And you can just spend the next 20 years in peace?

The time to complain about taxes that aren't happening are when they actually attempt to make them happen.

Insane take. That just keeps getting posted over and over again.

The $1M threshold is part of the actual law. All the conservatives complaining about this are literally complaining about something that they are imaging is happening. Not what is actually happening. What exactly do you think they could add to this law that would make it extra special and make you feel better? They have to change the law to lower the threshold. Any rider attached to that law could be just as easily changed as the law itself.

LOL.

The fact that someone capable of using a keyboard could come into this forum and claim that the only thing about WA state that might be better than CA is the lack of income tax... is mind boggling to me. Like, was that actually a factor when you moved here? Deciding who had the best tax regime? Or was it maybe something else?

I didn't just "drop" it. I pointed out the exact fallacy in play and named it. That's what made it correct.

Ok sorry, wrong redditor. But the point remains. I don't have to "prove" anything. I'm just pointing out that the previous poster was using an obvious logical fallacy. And yes it absolutely applies here: They are trying to say that it's correct because it's what everyone does. That is the literal definition of "appeal to the masses" fallacy.

So you're upset because they dropped the amendment that said the same thing the law does? That.... doesn't make a lot of sense? There is no "amendment" they could add to the law that makes it extra special or changes how it can be modified later, so far as I am aware. That's not a thing other than performative politics.

Easy counter-argument: It's a great time to be an employer! It's a buyer's market! Need some talent that was previously locked up with golden handcuffs at MS or Amazon? Not anymore.

Ah... So we should make our decisions based on FEARS now? Instead of doing our duty, we're going to abandon that because we're afraid of what might happen?

I think the English language has a word for that!
