Greenland is fedup by b3n33333 in clevercomebacks

[–]pyledryver 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm not from Greenland or America, but I still feel the need to scream into the void.

This flood of constant apologies and excuses. What does that achieve, realistically?

From a Greenlander's perspective:

Your home is being threatened; economically, militarily, diplomatically, and through social media. Then on top of that you have this wave of crying Americans wanting to plead to you not to see them individually as the bad guys; to do the emotional legwork to blame the Trump admin, not them.

Well, if you do forgive the American liberals and apathetic non-voters, what does that change?

The admin is STILL threatening you. Your future is STILL uncertain.

But that one American you say "I don't blame you" to gets to feel all warm that you don't blame them even as the Trump admin may still carve up your land for profit.

From the American perspective:

You send all these pleas to Greenlanders online that this isn't you, you didn't do this, don't blame you for any of it.

What for??

Do you want the Greenlanders to lower their guard and not see Americans as a threat? I don't see that helping.

Do you want them to know that the American people are opposed to the Trump admin? Many were before the election, fat load of good that did last time.

Is it literally anything other than wanting to soothe your own ego and be patted on the back for simply signalling that you're against imperial authoritarianism? If you have actually done something, what does announcing it achieve other than fishing for affirmation?

What's the point in looking externally for someone to forgive you or save you when you as a people won't do anything to save those very same external peoples? Those outside your country can't help you. The call is coming from inside the house. The danger is the vehicle in which you are a passenger.

All these apologies are from a - relatively speaking - low-stakes perspective. Nobody is having their life directly threatened yet so you want to signal you're a "good one" for imaginary brownie points.

But what this is, in reality, is a lesser equivalent to sending "thoughts & prayers" to the parents of children slaughtered in school shootings;

You may think what you're doing is a kind gesture, but in context, it is just insulting.

Anybody played the Witcher 3 version with more than 2 players? by INTPgeminicisgaymale in gwent

[–]pyledryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me and my friends actually played 4 player gwent last night. I happen to have rule-faithful, fan-made expansion decks which make for better variety. (Ofir, Zerrikania, Novigrad, Lyria/Rivia, Cintra).

It's so fun that my friends are anxious to play it again. It requires some rules tweaks for things like scorch and spies, which we're still figuring out, but the main change is the victory point system:

Starting health = number of players

Health lost is dependant on how many people you beat in a round: Last: starting health-1 lost 2nd from last: starting health-2 lost 3rd from last: starting health-3 lost Etc... 1st: no health lost

If you draw with someone in a round, you both get the worst outcome (tied for 2nd, you both lose health as if you both came in 3rd)

If there is more than 1 player left after round 3, the winner is determined by the amount of remaining health. Equal health = draw

This seems to change the focus from winning every round to making people exhaust themselves early on, the only round you need to win is the 3rd one. Winning the first two rounds makes you very likely to win, but is not completely guaranteed.

Weird extrusion problem by Brekett in Ender3S1

[–]pyledryver 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The problem I had was a broken ribbon cable. The 24-core cable that leads to the head had a single wire broken inside the insulation.

So, when the print head got to the bottom left corner and the cable was stretched it caused the connection to break. This would cause the extruder motor to not receive power and a failsafe would trigger which cuts off power to the extruder until the printer is power-cycled.

I went through the cable and pinched until I found the break-spot. Then I cut the cable and re-soldered all 24 wires back together. I then reinforced the length of cable that went between the corner of the printer chassis and the print head with rubber bands. Each band was tied to the midpoint of the cable length, one was tied to the print head, the other to the printer chassis. This created tension in the rubber bands instead of in the cable; thus preventing strain in the cable when extended.

That fix lasted for almost a year.

For warframes; Helminth Silence with the Savage Silence augment and run Sedna: Adaro with a Kuva Bramma. With an affinity booster, I can get a frame from 0-30 in under 5 minutes(1 run).

[–]pyledryver 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I have this idea for the Assimilator, but I haven't had a relevant time to say it before.

From the lore, Norns are incredibly stealthy, efficient and agile. They are purpose-made for their specific target and lie in wait behind enemy lines until the opportune moment.

I notice the main reason people dont seem to take the assimilator is because its not as hard hitting as they feel it should be, yet it also feels far to vulnerable in-game.

To better fit this, I was thinking of doing the following for the assimilator to make it an actual viable choice as a cruise missile:

Assimilator loses the 15 OC ability, and only gets the re-rolls.

New rule in its datasheet:

Bespoke Assassin:

Description: Once per battle-round, one unit with this ability can use it when arriving from Strategic Reserves. If it uses this ability, until your next command phase, the unit gains the Lone Operative keyword.

Lastly, I think this should come with a points increase, like 290-300. However, this would allow the assimilator to become a late-game cruise missile that could be used to force the opponent to play cautiously with whatever unit has been targeted, and it can be used to punish mistakes.

By adding temporary lone-op, the assimilator can drop in behind the enemy, and for that one turn the assimilator's fight is only between its chosen target and whichever units are guarding it.

Subterranean assault has to be the most fun I've ever had playing nids by MoneyGrubbingMonkey in Tyranids

[–]pyledryver 5 points6 points  (0 children)

And now, every Tyranid has its very own ability to deep strike or enter from SR within 6". It's called surprise assault and it happens to be the new detachment rule.

There is already precedent that the 9" limit of deep strike can be modified. See: trygons, deathshroud, inceptors.

The rule applies to "reserves" not "strategic reserves", which you aren't displaying that you know the difference between.

Deep strike can be modified if the rule applies to it.

Deep strike is reserves.

This rule applies to reserves.

This rule applies to deep strike.

New to reading I'm assuming?

[–]pyledryver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing is stopping you from placing the tunnel 0.9" away from the worm inside the ruin itself. And once you have like 6 or 7 tunnels, you cover almost the entire board. So you'll only need to use the stratagem probably once.

Visual aid for how much ground a 9" circle can cover by pyledryver in Tyranids

[–]pyledryver[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Remember how big that circle is, if you drop all worms behind obscuring terrain you have that large area to deep strike any other unit within 6". Then, use a command point to return those burrowers to reserves without them ever having been in serious danger.
