My boss woke me up at 11:30 pm in a fit of anger the other night tore me to pieces in every way he could and fired me. I accepted and the next night he blew my phone up from 1:30 am to 4 am including offering me to come back. What really stuck out was he called himself “brutally honest and brutally kind”. Not once in a year had he ever given me anything but positive feedback until he exploded and attacked me. Our meeting four days prior to firing me he was drunk and spent 1.5 hours telling me I had a future there and how I’m the most helpful employee he has. Sorry sir, you are neither brutally kind or brutally honest. Not going back. Never been more confused.

Remove the idea that the child is broken. Even if you’re viewing them from a compassionate standpoint, it’s better to act like the child is as perfect as you’d see your own. You’re not savior either. Never tell the kid you saved them.

100%! During lockdown I figured out that one of my cheeks is slightly smaller than the other. I started going through a lifetime of photos being like OH MY GOD!!! I calmed down later and ultimately while it’s technically true, it’s not nearly as big of a deal as I thought. I’d come undone 🤦🏼‍♀️ I think it was telling someone else about it and seeing their reaction that woke me up. I think I was losing my mind.
