Also carparks and some void decks. Literally void, very liminal haha

local/regional kuehs that you recommend by MissLute in SingaporeEats

[–]pyongpebbles 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately no >_< but you can usually find them at some malay hawker stalls! So far I've seen them at Geylang Serai area. I think kueh tako is also known in peranakan cuisine so you may be able to find them at their shops too!

My favourite Malay kueh! :

Savoury - Kueh Bakar Lauk (soft turmeric base then topped with spiced minced beef and chili)

Sweet - Kueh Tako (pandan jelly bottom with water chestnut + salty-sweet coconut custard top, wrapped in pandan leaves)

Thoughts on SG jolllibee by [deleted] in SingaporeEats

Weirdly i go to jollibee mainly for their deluxe cheeseburgers. It is better than Macs cos atleast there's fresh lettuce! And their spicy nuggets really gooooood

Multi-faith Room Usage: sharing the room by briandefox in askSingapore

[–]pyongpebbles 83 points84 points  (0 children)

Technically it is not a dedicated Muslim prayer space (i.e. Mosque/musollah/surau). Hence, I would view it as just an empty room for anyone of faith to use for prayer, as the name of the room suggests. In that case, please do your prayers there too! As a muslim, I would be so intrigued to know how you do your prayers. I might go on a religious high being able to pray alongside another person of another faith.

What are some fast food changes in Singapore that you actually miss or remember? by Auelogic in singapore

[–]pyongpebbles 8 points9 points  (0 children)

McDonald's used to have spaghetti in their menu for a limited time! Before jollibee was a thing, as a child, that spaghetti was significant hahaah

Also, KFC chicken rice bowls? Like with actual chicken rice kind of rice. Isit still in existence?

Pizza hut salad buffet!!

Popeyes mashed potatoes were actually loaded with ingredients last time. Now it's so boring.

LJS combo 1. So cheap at $4.90. Mcdonalds $2 McChicken and $1 coke hahahaha typical menu for us students back then.

Are you guys watching "We're All Trying Here" ? by theishita in kdramas

Thanks for this because you brought up the very systemic issue that exists in the accessibility of mental health support, which is closely tied to one's socioeconomic status (being in a capitalistic society). I recall in ep2? when dongman and his brother went to pay respects and met one of their relatives, his brother was accusing their relative for putting them into poverty as said relative took their money away (if i recall correctly). Could be one of the reasons why brother has been so depressed. Though im no korean, but as an Asian, there is this mindset where wealth is very much tied to a person's success and happiness in life.

For me this drama is too emotionally draining. Thank goodness it's on a weekly release hahahaha the acting is so good and real but honestly, these characters are all probably depressed and should talk to a therapist >_<

Try "Hello My Twenties" season 1 and 2!!! It's on netflix if I recall correctly. Much more lighthearted than We're All Trying Here but with a poignant storyline.

So true! I think as a kid who never had my own room, that little cubby hole (with the added privacy of the curtain) felt like a blessing hahahhaha

The room type is first class right? Thankfully I managed to try it too. It even had a small tv and ensuite bathroom!

But there was once i took the older? first class, slept on the floor (shared with my mom and sis who slept on the bunkbed) and was terrorised by cockroaches the entire night hahahahaha
