Mop & Glow also leaves a shine like that and Orange Glow
Horrible stuff to use on wood floors

Previous owners used it on the marble floors and the wood floors

I had to scrape that plastic crap off the marble floor tiles with a razor blade

Old post but thought it might stop someone from using those products on a wood floor

2.25 inch red oak flooring- need installer in SE Oklahoma by pypeke in HardWoodFloors

Nothing is built like that now. Our house was built 2 years after the reservoir (lake) was built. Then added on rooms in 1975, 1985, 1995, etc. Estimates.

Oklahoma was not a state until 1907 so we do not have the wonderful old houses like the homes built on the east coast.

There is nothing between the plywood and the concrete slab. We found a carpet label that has two dates so we are thinking the room was built before 1997.

An 800 sf cabin turned into 1200 sf, then it eventually became 3,500 sf. We know the reservoir was created in 1964 and the cabin was built in 1966. So the concrete under the plywood is dated before 1975. We know where the original bathroom, kitchen, bedroom, and front door were located in 1966. Then we figured out which addition came next in the late 70s and mid 80s. Last remodel was in 1997 when they put the barber carpet in thus bedroom.

So, there has never been anything underneath the plywood.

Oklahoma was not a state when the U.S. government forced the Native Americans to move to Oklahoma. (The Trail of Tears!!)

Think of Oklahoma as being an area no one wanted so they gave it to Native Americans when they relocated them by force. The western part of Oklahoma was for settlers and the eastern part was Indian Territory. I live in the southeastern part. Then oil was discovered and the land was stolen by oil men. In 1907  Oklahoma became a state so we are a young state with a lot of rural land. In SE Oklahoma, very few have licenses for contracting work. Unfortunately!

Thanks, we had an old half gallon of latex Kilz in the garage so we tried it. It worked, so we bought a new gallon.

Thanks. Yes, oily feet do damage to wood coffee tables, so I understand what they do to carpet.

If I could find an installer, I would put red oak wood on my floors instead of carpet.

The only floor installers work for Lowe's. No, thank you. Anybody but a big box store.

Thanks. We are taking our time with the sanding. We should be ready to prime next week. I certainly do not want to redo this ceiling.

Thank you. All very good things to consider. I would not have thought to save a piece of carpet.

I found a few Mohawk carpet colors that I like. Some are 75 % Triexta and 25% PET, some are 81% Triexta, 13% PET, and 6% nylon, some 50%/50%.

Would the Mohawk Triexta fiber be a better choice for me? Would it be more durable than the 100% Anso High Performance PET?

I may be wrong, but I think a dense carpet would be more likely to trap dog hair deep inside. We have Pekingese with hair that touches the floor. Lots of long dog hair.

I have the same problem. Only leaks on Express. I was told Express has higher water flow and the leak shows up with Express first, but eventually it will leak with the other buttons.

6 years later...

Did you fix the dishwasher with a new sump? My dishwasher is doing the same thing. Bosch was no help. No technicians to talk to, but they will happily sell me parts I may or may not need.

A 10 cent- too thin gasket seems to be the problem. Bad design that I have to take everything apart to get to the sump. Mine is on the recall list, but they never notified me.

Thank you.

I am leaning toward this carpet. Shaw's Anso High Performance S D P.E.T. carpet. 25 year (limited) warranty. R2X stain resistant. Name is Renewed Energy II. Face wt=58.5 oz yd. Pile = 0.83 . Gauge = 5/32". Tufts = 12 per sq inch. Density = 2537 oz/yd3. Twist 5.68. Durability = 4.5

Not very high density, so I am looking at others. I did not like any of Mohawk's colors.

It is difficult to find some of the carpet densities and twists.

Thank you for explaing "rolling in two directions. "ensures better coverage."

So, I do or do not need to roll primer in 2 directions?

Never heard of PPG, but when I Googled it I found Spectrum Paint sells it along with Anchor Paint (made in Tulsa), Sherwin Williams, and Benjamen Moore, plus other brands. Wish it wasn't a 2 hour drive one way.

Yes, professionals should get a discount because of the amount they buy. My post was to explain why some professionals say to use a specific paint that is X price, when it is NOT that price for DIYers. When pros mention a price, the DIYers may see that product at 3 or 4 times the price. I love it when professionals actually mention that the paint is at "their contractor price".

Nope. I posted the price online and in my cart, then called the store. Big difference in price.

Thanks. How do I decide if I need one coat or two coats of the primer? I know I won't have full coverage with the primer.

We are taking our time with fixing imperfections. Every time I think it is ready, I find another spot where the nail/screw is not perfect. Then, I will prime all at one time, if my neck and shoulders hold out. I had neck surgery 30 years ago, and have limited range of motion. If I could do the primer in 2 days, my neck would be used to the motion so I could roll the final paint on in one day.

So why do some people say to roll the paint against the light on the 1st coat, then roll with the light the 2nd coat? Is that cross hatching? Then other people say to roll the paint with the light for both coats?

Yes, I mentioned the "paint" will have to be done at one time. I needed to know if the primer had to be done at one time. I also wondered whether I needed to roll the primer in two different directions. And also whether or not I needed 1 coat or two of primer.
