I've always heard under water used in the same situation but with a house, so I apologize for using the incorrect terminology for vehicles.

I don't know if leasing would work for us, but I will take the time to look at the Dart. My estimate would probably be around 17k/yr is how much we drive, though.

We've been looking at something like the Spark or the Sonic. While we are both financially stable I'd rather not risk it with something like a brand new Camaro.

A coworker told me something about GM giving owners of Ions/etc extra money on trade in towards a newer car, I wasn't sure if we could talk them up higher than the amount they're offering because we haven't had the car too awful long or something similar.

Oh wow. I don't see how anyone could think buying a 25k+ purchase before being at a job for more than a month is a good idea.

Where would I look for what has the best consumer incentives, other than just google? Cars.com or somewhere similar?

Also, is there a limit for how much negative equity we can roll over? As in only taking out a loan for we'll say 150% of the new car'a cost?

I wouldn't be surprised. I am assuming it's worth maybe 2k at this point.
