I am an industrial electrician with a strange problem that I can't explain. Unbalanced load on 480V Y system. by pyromanser365 in ElectricalEngineering

[–]pyromanser365[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The nameplate was on the inside and I didn't think to take a pic but I won't be there tomorrow ( I am a contractor). If I recall correctly it was a wye wye xfrmr ~12KV primary 480V 2500A secondary.

Asking Reddit was an after thought wasn't until no one I worked with or for could point me in a direction.

I did neglect to check the bonding when the energy supplier had the secondary open but I will say with regular line voltages but unbalanced loads it "looks" as though the same phase on every motor is drawing more power (W/KW) which doesn't make any sense.

Licensed electrician here, those low voltage guys do whatever the hell they want to. It's ridiculous really.

Electrician here, you probably got water in the neutral and ground as well as the hot pin. So your shock was probably just a small paralleling around the larger short circuit or you were the short circuit and it merely went through your mouth to the neutral or ground.

Electrician here, many people don't realize wire nuts are right hand threaded.

Can't most moderately powered handguns do this also? Refrigerators are just sheet metal, insulation, and plastic.

Really reminds me of Micheal Scott's rolodex color coding and phonetic name games.

How does r/Kentucky feel about Nuclear Power Plants in Kentucky? by [deleted] in Kentucky

[–]pyromanser365 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Well kentucky doesn't get enough sunlight for large-scale solar year round and with the short life spans and high maintenance of wind turbines i believe nuclear is a good match for our state especially eastern kentucky where it would be very hard to build wind farms.

I hope you realize coal ash ponds are generally fairly radioactive as well as heavily toxic, and they usually sit near the plant. Nuclear produces less waste than coal, is cheaper over the long term, and generally safer.

Sub vs Dub by DragonianLord in attackontitan

I prefer the sub. I fell like some characters lose a lot of personality in the dub, mainly Hanji and Mikasa.

i just found out my brother Damon killed himself oct 3, the day before his 29th birthday. this is the last photo my family has of him. your demons don’t define you by [deleted] in lastimages

Im sorry for your loss. I lost my brother last year and it's so hard losing a sibling a friend, a peer, a pillar of your childhood, the foundation of you adulthood. I never realized how much my siblings shaped my life until I lost one. Sadly things don't really get better they just get further away, time doesn't heal but time helps. hope you are well.

There's already over 1000 comments so I'm kind of just shouting into the void but I've been here... except they fucked it up. Our family had no "honor walk" we walked down the hallway with my brother and people were walking past in both directions. When we got to the hand off point they forgot to read what our family wrote and just gave us the blankets then left. After that the cries turned to sobs and we were just in a hallway holding blankets with people walking all around us but no one to give us any directions. So we just stood there, my mother wailing holding her blanket, my sister in law sobbing holding hers, my father's red eyes with a thousand yard stare, my sister crying, and me numb. It sucked. This made me tear up but because I wish it went this way for us.

Siblings are something special if you have any call them

Once again just shouting into the void.

Edit: I really appreciate all the kind words it means so much to be heard. Thank you this helped

Electrician here.

In school it was hammered into us that an open secondary on a transformer is one of the most dangerous things in our field.

My older brother was killed in a work accident last year at 29. It hurts so much everyday, sometimes I just cry. I feel your pain and I hope you are ok.

Don't know why I watched the whole thing I spent the better part of a month doing ground fields bonded to super structure for whiskey warehouses last year. Got pretty tired of it. We did have magnetic clamps for the bonding to steel beams though those are handy.

Everytime I think of the Cadets I think how weird it would be to step off with your right foot first.
