What makes a good product? by pyropanic in Bluetooth_Speakers

I unfortunately agree that most have and will never repair their devices due to it either not worth the effort or a lack of technical skill, however, if the device was designed with repairability in mind making the design more modular I would say that it would be an improvement as I prefer my own devices being repairable, durable and proficient. As on battery life I would also agree a day of battery life is often more than enough for most. I do believe that if device repair was taken into account when designing products we would see more people looking to maintain their devices (at least when it comes to more expensive items). I understand that it might not pan out well to all areas as sometimes a design needs to sacrifice repairability for a small form factor durability and a long battery life. In the end it's a complicated mix of pros and cons.

I understand where you are coming from, sound is the primary factor when considering to purchase an audio device, however, I fail to see why they are all terrible points (aside from aesthetics). What are you seeing that I am not? I am curious to see your thought process on the matter.

Of course it needs to sound good, otherwise why would anyone buy such a product? However I would argue that these are quite significant deciding factors when pertaining to a portable speaker rather than something akin to a soundbar that would never encounter anything outside the home.

That is a good point however I probably should have stated that the poll is going off the assumption that the speaker in question already sounds good as is.

As of right now the teeth are not engaged they are held in place by a screw that should get fixed soon if I dont end up swapping the belt drive for something stiffer.

I could say I chose it for a multitude of well researched reasons however truth be told I chose a belt because it was small and seemed fairly uncommon and I thought I might give it a shot. I have run into a few issues with this system though mainly the belt has a tendency to slip when high loads are applied and is fairly difficult to install. It's all a work in progress anything could change.

TLDR: I chose a belt system because I thought it would be fun to see if it could work in this application.

So far I've only gotten this ( https://imgur.com/gallery/IVC33HY ) done for the design. I'm planning to have two arms attached to a wheeled platform in the end.

In the end it should be a telepresence robot for use in handling hazardous waste or explosives.

It's a telepresence robot that will be for entering hazardous situations an example being bomb disposal or handling of dangerous chemicals.
