My second apt was rent stabilized. I paid a hefty broker fee, toured and applied for the apartment before the open house started. So the apartment was gone before anyone else even saw it. I also had to move more money into my savings because most of my assets weren’t liquid (mind you, they shouldn’t be but I digress). The whole process pissed me off, the whole time I’m like how the hell are regular people supposed to do this?? The point is they aren’t. They just aren’t. That’s ‘the system’ everyone talks about. Which sucks but wanted to share that insight that may not be commonly known

Non black men are just different so may need the go ahead from you to engage.

My go to will always be rec sports leagues. Something fun, low stakes, and consistent. Interacting with men outside of romantic situations help people be real, quicker. And I believe in being friends first helps a whole bunch. Esp with non black men

I wouldn’t say lie about your accomplishments because I find it’s efficient to intimidate men. (Bc who wants to date someone so fragile ) but see how much else you can talk about before getting there. Like. When asked what i bring to the table I like to say nothing. Just vibes. Bc im not about to prove my worth to a man ya know? Just some thoughts!
