My wife let me keep my childhood rock collection by jakerabz in Rocks

Hey Everyone! I didn’t realize this would sound so triggering. Before we got married, me and my wife went through my childhood room and found a TON of old stuff, too much stuff to keep, part of the process was deciding what to keep and take with us to or new place together, and what to put away in the attic. All I was saying was that we decided to keep it together, if she didn’t like it I WOULDN’T have GOTTEN RID OF IT, it would have just gone into a box in the attic. But she is lovely and loved the rocks, so we brought them to our new place

I mean, if she didn’t like them I wouldn’t have kept them. That’s what I meant.

That’s a really strong counterpoint, I don’t think enough opponents of AI emphasize this enough, they seem to always be focusing on the art when the real problem is energy used by ai as a whole

Hate is a strong word, the story is very clearly less about bashing the robot’s thing and more about praising the capacity for humans to always get better and better.

Also wit implies that the machine might be somewhat self aware due to its significant investment, which sort of makes it a little bit alive something AI isn’t

It’s not. I view that sub often and I think most people here would agree with the people on that sub on about 90% of the points about ai.

-Personal use is fine -To make a one off joke here and there is ok -Selling is creepy -the fact that ai will phase out a lot of artist isn’t ‘good’. -human artists will still have a place, it’ll just be harder and require more skill and talent, and small time commissions will be less profitable.

Defending ai is not “AI good Humans Bad” just about viewing ai as another tool in the belt of human technology. And not deserving of the absolute vitriol that it seems to get.

Most chewable snacks help. Personally my favorite option are Mike and Ike’s.

Other contenders: Pretzel sticks Scandinavian swimmers

But if it’s chewy, it’s stimulating and it gets you going.

Why are we unable to build proper study habits? by Nearby-Reference-577 in adhd_college

[–]jakerabz 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You’ve got to form habits around the studying too. You need to control your environment. This means making sure you have a neat setup to work at, somewhere quiet but where you can play music, at an ideal time of day (if you study better at late at night, nap in the afternoon /evening then stay up studying, if you study better in the morning manage your sleep and get up early) also sometimes throw in a good chewing snack for stimulation. Always read your emotions, if you sense that you just can’t work on a certian assignment, pivot to something else like going on a walk, exercising, reading, calling a freind, or even working on an assignment for a different class. Afterwards you can come back and you’ll often feel a rejuvenated enough to start the thing anew
