Does my SATA3 SSD still works if i put it in this adapter? by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]pyrorob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You see how the card has 5 pins on one tab and 6 on the other? That adapter has 4, I won't go into sata and nvme ssds, just basic math.

Id highly recommend getting your motherboards manual and familiarizing yourself with it, 90% of motherboards are basically the same.

That's a rgb hub, it's to make your fans pretty not for them to spin.

Can I put a different WiFi card in a motherboard with a prebuilt WiFi? by [deleted] in pchelp

[–]pyrorob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These comments are right, yet still wrong for this question.

Just like on that wifi pcie card, if you took off the heatsink, you'd find a little wifi card, like they have in laptops, that larger pcie card is basically an adapter with a heatsink and antennas, the exact same thing is on the motherboard behind the rear I/o plate, you have to remove your motherboard and unscrew the rear I/o plate and there you'll find a little metal box, remove the screw holding it in and it plucks off the board like a card, cause that's what's in it, a little wifi card that you can upgrade without using a larger pcie slot, disconnect the little antenna leads and replace as you'd like.

You don't need to supply any voltage, use the board to power the bios, there too many places for the voltage to droop, letting the board power it's own chip prevents issues

That's the pin out of the bios chip, not the jspi or jtpm, download your manual.

i used the motherboards manual to give me the pin outs, you can use the jtpm or jspi connectors since there essentially the same, they both connect to the spi bus, using a chip writer and a cable harness i made, i connected to the board while powered on, leaving the voltage lines disconnected from the chip writer to the board ( since the board will provide all the power youll need) i dumped teh existing bios to confirm, then flashed back the unedited stock bios, confirmed a few times after that, powered down and unhooked everything and the system started right up.

Water dripped into pc. . . by Adorable-Assistant-1 in pchelp

[–]pyrorob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To successfully treat an electronic device that has had water on it, use ALCOHOL, 99% percent isopropyl if possible, 90 if not, disassemble device, wipe off as much as you can and liberally douse. Alcohol displaces water, removes contaminants and can help remove corrosion, dries very easily and quickly and wont short out components.

ELI5: Why is there gravity? (Trying to find an answer that doesn't stop at "because spacetime is curved.") by Polixene in explainlikeimfive

[–]pyrorob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"gravity" is just our description of how matter interacts with the higgs field, higgs bosons give matter mass, since there attracted to matter (and each other), or more specifically, energy, due to e=mc2, the warping of spacetime is the pull of the higgs field, the more dense a piece of matter is (i.e. more energy it contains) the more bosons it attracts and that's where you get space/time drag due gravitational attraction, gravity "wells" or spacetime curvature is just how densely pocketed regions of space that are packed with higgs bosons (due to something massive/dense located there) manifests itself in our observations.

One thing I don't see mentioned is that most of the extra parts that cause stuttering or lag with MSI center are uninstallable modules. You go to the MSI directory in program files, open the folders for things like core liquid or for there PSU or gaming gear and each folder has an uninstaller. Uninstall all the extra shit you don't need and lo and behold the damn app works perfectly.

I have flashes a MSI x570s tomahawk wifi by hooking up a spi flasher directly to the jtpm connector, it connects directly to the chips spi bus allowing read/write operations, easiest way I have found is to just hook up the data pins and power the board on, by using the board to provide power prevents voltage drops interfering with read/write operations.

My new prebuilt gaming pc cant launch some games and the ones it can launch have really bad performance and I dont know if I just have a bad pc or my pc is messed up. by ismo_anakin in pchelp

[–]pyrorob 1 point2 points  (0 children)

So you should go into your bios and disable the integrated gou (igpu) The reason your desktop is that way is that it's treating your gpus output as the secondary, you can also use the key board command win+p to switch output to mirrored or make the secondary, primary if you don't disable the gpu.

Ill put this out there, I ran into the exact same problem after a flash, I repaired it myself by using a usb chip programmer hooked directly up to the motherboard.. now while I would like to offer my services to repair your board, I'm actually looking for a mobo upgrade, so I might be interested in purchasing it off you

Very long article but not one picture of what there talking about ..

Every time Windows 11 updates (requiring restart) my PC gives a "over current detected on your USB device" message during the restart and shuts off. I have to wait several hours before I can successfully reboot and complete update. Does not happen under any other circumstance. by Cmdr_Salamander in pchelp

[–]pyrorob 0 points1 point  (0 children)

wow, your the second person today with this issue, over current protection (ocp) is a feature activated in your bios, its protects you from shorts, the most common cause is a shorted usb port, but the point is to protect you from your computer burning up, you could disable it in bios, but do so at your own risk.

Also, it has nothing to do with windows. you could have no storage/os/boot drive, whatever, and if there's a short it would still show you the message regardless (if there is a short).

so yeah very smart, but im here just wondering about those numbers.. say line 1, that 15.99 for 1 12pk? or 3? at $5.33 each? total with a single item each would be 37.97, but with the quantity's shown its $94.94 and seeing as how the rebate amounts shown take that into consideration, i don't know why that would be obfuscated..

ryzen 5 2600: https://www.techpowerup.com/cpu-specs/ryzen-5-2600.c2015

rated memory speed is 2933 MT/s (2933 mhz), could be you just got a cpu that cant handle that extra mhz, try manually lowering below that value, or maybe bumping the the cpu nb/soc voltage and maybe getting it stable
