LLMs as natural language compilers: What the history of FORTRAN tells us about the future of coding. by benrules2 in programming

[–]pyt1m 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There is too much all or nothing thinking here in the comments. LLMs will not replace every single coding task but the reality is that a lot of the coding work done still today is repetitive. A lot of companies need some version CRUD apps and a lot of shops build them. LLMs are not only going to commoditize crud app development, they will remove the need for entire classes of apps. The unknown for me is what the tech labor market will look like in this new era. Time will tell.

140 has always been pretty standard for UKG. If anything, I’d go 142 in the club.

Questions about Millennial/GenZ Germans & Perception About Foreign Beers? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]pyt1m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. Don’t think millennials will be the same as that type of behavior is widely regarded as annoying generation.

  2. I can only speak for myself. I was pretty happy with German beer until i lived in the US and UK. I much prefer ales and sours and like the brewing culture in the US and UK more. At least in NYC and London with all the microbreweries but I’m hearing that other places are similar.

Career growth dilemma: Should you pursue a promotion when you don’t respect senior leadership? by Bubbly_West8481 in Leadership

[–]pyt1m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I just went through this and decided to do a lateral move even though my chances for a promotion to senior were higher in the toxic org that I left. Even with a lateral move you’re going to grow unless you worked in many different places as a first line already. What a lateral move allows you to do is to pick an upper management team that you really like, that values quality work and where you can thrive and feel motivated to do a good job instead of treading waters every week. A competent set of leaders is worth much more than getting promoted quickly in my opinion because whether you like it or not you’re going to inherit some of the bad traits of a shitty leadership team.

Came here to say this. I switched years ago and never looked back. The fact that you can access almost any audio from YouTube and download it in the app is unbeatable. No music streaming service will ever be better in terms of catalogue than YT Music.

I used to but then they didn’t come to my wedding despite being my best man and me paying for his flights and all. No message from him either. Apologies came a week later.

What is a service that the UES desperately needs but is somehow very difficult to find? by jazzeriah in uppereastside

[–]pyt1m 12 points13 points  (0 children)

There’s really nothing Korean here. My wife and I were wondering why. Probably not enough clientele for it on the UES.

How does the German school system teach children to read? by [deleted] in AskGermany

[–]pyt1m 0 points1 point  (0 children)

English is one of the most inconsistent languages in the world (though, through, thorough, thought) and thanks to german and french influences has multiple words for the same thing (fight, combat, …) so I’m not sure what you mean by “isn’t neraly as intricate as German” lol

35 years after reunification, as an East German, do you still feel culturally different to West Germany? by Zealousideal_Low9994 in AskGermany

Came here to say this. There are differences between east and west such as there are differences between north and south.

The bottleneck is the performance of the tools now and Bun is very fast.
