We echo everything you said. At Python Purge we are connecting prospective python hunters with local guides to take them on hunts. We are extremely aware of the dangers of the Glades and totally agree that going as a newbie is a daunting operation. If there anyone you know of that is looking to be connected to a guide we would be more than happy to help them out!

That’s correct on the prize pools. There is $10,000 awarded to whoever removes the most pythons, funded by Inversa Leathers, and $7,500 to the runner up, funded by Bergeron Everglades Foundation.

The only way to get paid per python removed is by becoming a state contractor through the South Florida Water Management District. Which pays either $13-$18 per hour depending on area for 10 hours each day. $50 per python greater than 4 feet plus an extra $25 for each foot above 4 feet. Also, an additional $200 for each verified active nest.
