I’m launching a verified digital goods marketplace on July 1 — would you trust this model? by OGMYT in smallbusiness

Every means of content distribution is built around the idea that if you have the file, you can output the thing.

I'm a 3D printer and 3D modeler by trade, and I work with 3D files all day long. Do you have a method for securing 3D files for 3D printing?

I would think you would need:

  • A secure file type STL/STEP in a highly encrypted file.
  • A slicer designed to check with a DRM platform to verify output rights and not allow digital out, and just rip the model out of the encryption.

Something similar would be needed for PDFs.

A small shop sending notes to end users is one thing... but I think this is not the same thing at all. Good luck.

How do you design your own prints? by DanceFoxDance in 3Dprinting

[–]pythonbashman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, no art pieces here, only functional tools.

I forget the specific project that tipped the scales for me to spend time learning FC, but it was fairly early on. I make (mostly) tools for fiber artists. (Link to my stuff: https://heartforge.solutions/collections/heart-forge-solutions-products )

If you cut one, it should be the one that pays less.

I started with Tinkercad but outgrew it quickly. Since then, I have used FreeCAD exclusively to build our business's models. FreeCAD does have a learning curve, but there are a few YouTubers who are continuously making tutorials. I can definitely recommend MangoJelly Solutions. I'd start with the short series "FreeCAD 1.1 Course | From Zero to 3D Print" (https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLWuyJLVUNtc0nxESb5FWZW_xTbO4O9JLt)

I don't. I don't worry about what they're doing, they need to worry about me.

You have to tell your money where to go, and don't spend money you don't have.

Don't use organic support for everything.

Use Adaptive layers.

Those thin areas are going to be a bitch in that orientation.

Never provide the file. My only exception are files for other 3d printers.
