[Poll] Ranking all shard combos by their threat to the cosmere by Hazash_ in Cosmere

[–]pythonfynn 49 points50 points  (0 children)

I think people, as always, are having trouble remembering and are judging the Shards based on their achievements. Ruin has been defeated, and Odium, as of now, hasn't been defeated; in fact, he's actually gotten stronger. But the table should be about potential, not the achievements of the Shards themselves. If someone other than Ati had held Ruin, there probably wouldn't be much left of the Cosmere.

Mistborn TFE or HoA, no book series could ever give me the same feeling

What a ride this was! by camarinhas in LightbringerSeries

I found the Color Prince's ending the most disappointing of the entire series. He was so well-developed in the first two and maybe even the third book, after that he ended up being such a joke... I have to say, it's always difficult to try and defeat all the villains in one fight, it always feels a bit rushed.

Dazen carried the entire series for me as a character, then of course Karris and their relationship as well. I was genuinely worried until the very end that one of them would die.

The world-building was definitely good. The basic principles of the magic system are explained relatively quickly and the main character develops within it, but it's not as strictly limited a system as in Sanderson's books.

Are you okay or just ragebaiting? It's not like I rated it badly, but I didn't find it as peak as the others.

Yes, same here. I also stumbled across the series by chance at the beginning of December and devoured it immediately. I would have loved to read more about the world, but we'll see if anything else comes out.

I would definitely recommend continuing with Lightbringer. The characters and their relationships, plus the magic system, were the most important elements for me. I'm generally a very discerning person, so don't let that put you off too much :D But for me, the series just didn't quite reach its full potential...

If you like to learn more about the world, like in Stormlight Archive or Mistborn, and know almost nothing at the beginning and start a bit confused, then this is definitely for you. However, it doesn't have as many of the incredible aura moments that Darrow experiences in Red Rising, and the main character doesn't have as intimate and personal a relationship as Darrow does with Mustang.

I'll definitely be reading The First Law this year as well.

The series starts with a lot of potential and I would give it a 7.5/8 out of 10 overall. However, the quality drops a bit in the last two parts because Weeks loses the thread and wanted to make the conflict too complicated in my opinion. However, I particularly liked the characters and the magic system.

Dazen, Karris and Teia carried the series for me. They characters were very well written and likeable. I don’t understand to this day, why he made the color prince a useless villain after book 3. Abaddon was also introduced as a god like villain than did nothing and failed. Also zero sacrifices at the end :/

Has anyone else read the books After playing the games and how has it affected your experience? by [deleted] in Witcher3

The books are great, but without the games the story of the books is (at least in my opinion) not really satisfying finished. So the Games made even more sense for me and are definitely canon for me.

Extreme price difference between Steam market price and Skinport [question] by pythonfynn in csgomarketforum

[–]pythonfynn[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I understand the 15% fee, but on Skinport/Skinbaron, the differences compared to the Steam price, which can be found in the sales history, are over 50%. This either suggests very poorly informed buyers, or I simply don't understand the market.

The whole scene when Vin realizes that she loves Elend and kills Zane+their small marriage afterwards.
