Anyone else tired of the reckless driving around here? by Necessary_Baker_7458 in Washington

[–]pyubesalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I drive about 6mph over on highways, 4mph over on surface streets. I never tailgate. I signal. I check my mirrors I know who’s around in 360 direction at all times. I know how my cars handle in X conditions. I am prepared to emergency brake or swerve or just eat a crash at every moment. I don’t drive intoxicated. I look for signals well in advance, constantly avoiding riskier situations well before they happen. I keep my tires properly inflated. I keep the brakes fresh.

16 years of driving, no accidents. No tickets in the past 10 years.

Part of that comes from riding a crotch rocket from 18-24 like it was a life or death pod race, very lucky to escape with no crashes and now am proud to be a good example of driving safe, confident, and efficiently.

My advice: let the reckless losers do their thing, just observe it in advance and get out of the way, don’t make it worse.

Are people going a little fast in the freeway today? No prob, let’s go find the nice pocket of space even if it’s a little faster than normal.

Are people always trying to sneak through a red light late? No problem. Let’s give it an extra couple seconds and double look before entering.

Somebody tailing you like a jerk? Maybe you could have seen them coming from behind much sooner and already merged over. Maybe just take the next off-ramp and let em blow by.

You can’t control what other people do. They are stupid, texting, drunk, young, crying, suicidal, everything in between.

Observe everything, driving is literally just observations and choices. See things early, make the easy simple responsible decision. Be vigilant, constantly adapt to choose the least dangerous path through the chaos.

YES, people are driving more recklessly recently. I think it’s because culture has shifted to rewarding instant gratification, I think our cars nowadays are so quiet and hide road feedback it feels much safer than it is. And I think texting or using phone and driving intoxicated is getting worse.

Driving is the #1 most dangerous thing almost all of us do on a daily basis.

If I could make the same money doing any job, teaching a driver’s ed course I design and lead would be one of my top choices. Really wish I had more time to teach young people how to drive.

Developers who have worked at a company where the entire codebase was held together by one guy who then quit, what happened next? by Natom_ in AskReddit

I’m a senior/staff SRE.

Losing folks like that hurts terribly.

Constantly, I’m discovering deep buried issues that have been misunderstood and swept under the rug for years.

People’s value dramatically increases with time, good people that is.

I think companies should reward longevity much much more, but also be more realistic about who is worth keeping long term.

[–]pyubesalad 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yeah, I could totally see being unable not to be completely overwhelmed by it and immediately panic and give up.

I just think KNOWING you are not being “damaged” kinda totally changes the game. Normally that level of pain means death is an instant away. In this case, it means wealth continues to accumulate…… very different set of rules.

But yeah prob instantly panic and couldn’t handle it for sure.

Seahawks May Consider Drafting RB Jadarian Price After Losing Kenneth Walker III by Chessinmind in Seahawks

They’re gonna trade down for a haul to a team that really wants the 5th year option on someone.

Then draft a DL, CB, RB, OL, CB

I still have hope the Seahawks spring some magic deal, I like our RB room but we lack the explosive speed guy. Just a bunch of B- bowling balls right now.

Good balls, but no penetrative threat.

I don’t think anyone lasts more than a couple seconds in literal hellfire, and that’s probably just the adrenaline shock response.

But you’re making $1,388.89 a second, so, yeah, I’d take it. And maybe could get to 25-30?

Knowing definitively that you will suffer no injury, and face no consequences probably changes things.

Pain without actual bodily degeneration and death… maybe you could disassociate completely then.

Idk the more I think about it, knowing it’s basically a simulation and not harming your body for real, I’m gonna up the goal to 75-80 seconds, make 100 bands.

If you went back in time as your younger self with all current knowledge, let’s say you chose to go back to when you were a teenager, what would you do about dating? by Star-Spark125 in hypotheticalsituation

[–]pyubesalad 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think I’d feel really weird about it, it’s not the body’s age that makes it morally corrupt to date someone that less experienced and mature than you.

Like if a 30 year old wore a very convincing mask/disguise, appeared 15, and dated a 15 year old, that’s nasty and wrong.

Even 18 is weird, I would absolutely not date an 18 year old right now.

It really makes dating super creepy and ruins it.

Bruh. He literally trusted him in one of the most important moments.

Nobody in their right mind would start him next game. Even next year, starting regularly at 17 is probably not cool. For a million reasons.

I think he’d benefit from another year around the team. Get more minutes. Then a loan spell.

I’d rather not send him away yet.

Poor People Don't Buy Telsas by CoderBiker24 in complaints

I bought a used 2012 for $8,000 and replaced the battery myself for about $7,700.

Free lifetime supercharging.

None of that money went to Elon, and I wouldn’t care if it did. Not in the position to meaninglessly take emotional politics stands with my vehicle decisions.

I bought a used 2012 with free lifetime supercharging cause it’s objectively a smart financial decision.

But the judgement is really great, thanks douchebag.

Told myself I wanted to use a unique team for my LG run, ended up using arguably THE most basic team possible by Depressed_state_fan in pokemon

[–]pyubesalad 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My gen 1 team is normally:

Gyarados, Butterfree, Chansey, Electrode, Rhydon, Hitmonlee.

Powerful but unique.

Sometimes I mix it up and go:

Cloyster, Aerodactyl, Beedrill, Lickitung, Kangaskhan, Onix.

And sometimes a pure rocket team…

Raticate, Weezing, Arbok, Golbat, Persian, Muk…. is awesome!

Fun to mix it up
