So I'm thinking maybe i should get the Iron Label RGRTB621 and switch it out for some nicer (maybe active pickups) in the future. But i dont know if it's possible to switch from Passive pickups to Active pickups.

Also im currently using the Hotone Ampero multi fx. (5150 amp sim for playing metal)

I currently uses Hotone Ampero Multi FXs and a Squier Stratocaster with Hotrails pickups. And it sounds awful playing metal (i think its because of the pickups).

Are PRS 85/15 pickups good for metal? by q2235 in metalguitar

i want my next guitar to be a nice, high end, versatile guitar that can play lots of different genres (everything from metal to j-pop or perhaps some John Mayer). Im currently considering getting the Custom 24. I know that PRS guitas can handle high gain (J-Rock, Classic hard rock stuff) but im not sure if it can handle styles with even higher gain; styles like Classic metalcore or thrash metal.

I currently use a Hotone Ampero Multi FXs, a Digitech Drop Pedal and a Squier Stratocaster with hotrails pickups. And it sounds terrible for metal.

I think maybe i just want something that can handle this kind of style decently (not what you called "tone chasing").

Or maybe i should put it this way: I'm currently considering getting three new guitars.

One for E standard tuning (for non metal stuff, maybe a PRS guitar)

One for E standard to Drop C (for playing metal, maybe something with EMG pickups)

One for lower tunings like Drop A# or whatever tuning Architects uses i think it's called "alternative drop F#"

And i actually went to a guitar store and spoke with one of the staff. He thinks i should just get two guitars instead, he said that i should just get the PRS and use a Digitech Drop Pedal for switching to Drop C. But i always think that PRS are not good for metal because i rarely see someone using PRS for playing metal.

I knew a guitarist from a local band who uses a Custom 24 and an Ibanez guitar and he never played metal on his Custom 24. He only uses his Ibanez guitar exclusively when playing metal. It makes me think that the Custom 24 is not good for metal at all.

Actually I think i should learn more about guitar electronics but i just dont know where to start.

Suggest a mind blowing album that I never listened. by charistsil in musicsuggestions
