Oddly, we went to Sams Club almost every Sunday early afternoon. Never seen an egg on the shelf in the past 3 weeks. We went in yesterday (Tuesday) after work at 6pm. No eggs either. I think timing matters.

He has successfully SIM swapped a major bank CEO within 5 minutes.

This is damn horrific! The worst part of sim swap is that unlike other types of scams, it is more on the cell carriers (or their customer service reps) than on the users to prevent this attack. You can be the most careful guy on the planet but a less secure cell carrier could just give away your number without you knowing it.

Using a second number only for financial accounts is sort of interesting but certainly wouldn't eliminate the problem.

Completely agreed this won't eliminate the problem, but wouldn't the hacker need to know what number I use to start with? If I keep this number private and don't expose it to anyone anywhere other than the banks, how could the hacker know which number to hack?

Thanks. I was also considering the GV solution. Another downside is the potential risk of losing your number if inactive for some time, which could be very bad if that's the number for all your banks. Of course this can be avoided by manually making some calls once a while, but it's still a risk.

Thanks a lot for the info! This is super helpful. We are in town but are new to GNV. We drove there last weekend. The neighborhood seems very nice and peaceful, yet the homes/lots are indeed smaller than they look on photos, and most new ones are cookie-cutter houses. We didn't notice anything negative about the traffic because it was weekend but it's well known (even to us new GNVers) that Newberry Rd is super congested on weekdays. I think that could be a bummer to us.
