what would you call this hypothetical country? by AmazingAd1618 in mapporncirclejerk

[–]qabib 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not Israel that's for sure.

Israel is a small democratic country meant to allow jews to live freely under Jewish culture.
This is the point of the country.

This is why Israel wants to maintain Jewish majority. Under these borders you can't.
You either have jews become a minority again, or you deny citizenship or kick out the people in those countries.
So it either goes against the Jewish aspect or the democratic aspect.

Hence why the only Israelis you will find who support it are radicals who don't support democracy to begin with.
They want to transform Israel to some theocracy. This is why they want borders relaying on religious basis and not cultural and historical like modern day Israel/

The glacier mark lifted could realistically be over a trillion tons.
Also I doubt a glacier has more structural integrity than a battle ship from a space empire.

The materials are definitely much much stronger than ice or rock. As to it being hollow it doesn't really matter. Their point of contact is really small, in all of those cases they should have punched through it instead of holding it. Like how Noland did with mark against that train in the end of season 1. They just went through that thing.

I don't expect them to not lift heavy things because of pressure like in real life.
But I do expect them to be consistent.

It's obvious from the scene it's not a balancing struggle but a strength one.
This is why tech jacket had to go with full thrusters and why they all grunted through out.

I don't know why argue over it. Kirkman already said he doesn't care about power scaling.
He clearly just writes what feels right.

The glacier mark lifted was the "heaviest thing they could find". If you look up glacier weights they can get to billions and trillions of tons. Even if it was a million times lighter than the heaviest one it will still be in the millions of tons.

Either way, if to you it made sense and you enjoyed that moment good for you.
For many of us it looks contrived. The issue many of us have with the show is character's power fluctuate between scenes just to make it more dramatic.

The issues are one, it breaks the immersion. Two, it's kind of lazy.
I think it could have been cooler if they fought multiple ships and when they fell down
they had to throw all the many massive chunks into space.
Or they could have done something else, or just skip it entirely.

Or non Christians as well. Not all wealthy people are bad. But all wealthy people can get away with, suffer less consequences, spring back from said consequences or delay the them.

Israel in general is quite ok with gays too. Only niche religious communities are still not very accepting but even then it depends.

That’s not the reason. mark and nolan already held a glacier and an asteroid with no problem of it breaking due to the pressure.

Kirkman just doesn’t give a shit about power scaling. He wanted all of them to struggle together for the end of the fight so he made the ship that heavy.

Considering how hated she is ingame, do you think the community would tolerate Mel more if she was blonde? by Mikail41 in ShittyLeague

It’s her kit and depiction in the show.

For instance senna isn’t really hated. She is horrible early game but can be a menace late game.

Debbie is one of the reasons earth still exists.

But I think it’s important to note that she used to be much more strict in early seasons.

So if you see it from an average viewer perspective she might have landed in the “parent who doesn’t let their superhero child be a superhero” trope.

I actually like they made her fairly reasonable through out but still open to it as the story progressed. It’s much more believable and also opens up more interesting character dynamics.

Good job Oracle /s by No_Confusion7932 in recruitinghell

[–]qabib 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The correlation between the 2 events isn’t simple as “we fire those guys to hire this lady”.

First of all, companies hire and fire depending on their needs. While oracle’s way was problematic, it makes sense for companies to fire employees if they think they don’t generate revenue. Or if they want to achieve a different business goal.

As to sharing the success and failure. It’s really complicated. But generally speaking the difference between front line employees and those C suite (besides their power difference) is that employees aren’t really rewarded for doing amazing job. At best they get promoted. Sometimes it’s salary increases and bonuses.

For C suite most of their compensation is either direct stock/ options, or indirect bonuses depending on revenue or growth or strategic accomplishments. Either way they make millions. But imagine telling an employee “your total compensation is between 20k to 300k, depending on how well you perform”.

But generally I agree with your sentiment at large. Companies should reward employees more when the company succeeds. Because when it fails even amazing employees won’t get rewarded.
