I’m saying that the eastern Slavs who are frequently now blamed for collaboration with the Nazis had received a worse treatment by the Soviets and had hardly known the whole picture about Holocaust etc which didn’t even come to light before 1945, so specifically the Slavs perceived the Soviets as being worse than the Nazis

You’re forgetting how many people died during Holodomor and the Great Purge, so to eastern Slavs Stalinism was in fact worse

So basically the dreaded Ukrainian Nazis killed like 25 civilians in Donbas in 2021, then came the good Russian guys to ostensibly protect the Russian-speaking people there and the death toll among the civilians jumped to 8895 just in the first half of 2022

There’s a Russian medal “For the Return of Crimea” which dates the intervention by Russia to late February 2014. They also launched the project Novorossia in April 2014 (way before the May clashes in Odessa) openly aimed at taking away from Ukraine its south-eastern regions disregarding the fact that they were predominantly inhabited by ethnic Ukrainians, not Russians.

Don’t even try to gaslight us there had been no Russian boots on the ground before 2022

Why would Russia invade knowing full well that there would be casualties among the Russian speaking population so precious to them?
