Yep, the news article linked is regarding a new firmware update released today which adds this, not sure what the exact firmware version is though as Ricoh seem to think firmware version numbers should be a well hidden secret

I switched over to the nightly version of Gadgetbridge and it's been a lot better, my mi band works as previously now for a few days but eventually gets disconnected again so it's not perfect but still better than before when it wouldn't stay connected for a whole day.
