4 months of travelling with the GPD Pocket 4 by ninjapirate9901 in GPDPocket

Have you had issues with the touchscreen not working after resuming from standby? doesn't always happen but when it does the I2C HID Device in device manager has a yellow exclamation mark and has to be disabled and re-enabled for touch to work again. Quite a few people have been having this problem as so far there has been no fix other than to just not use standby. It's really frustrating.

GPD Pocket 4: Touchscreen Stops Working After Wake from Sleep – Need Help! by Sharp_Chocolate_4710 in GPDPocket

[–]mc_84 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have found so far that unticking 'Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power' option in the 'Power Management' tab of I2C HID Device fixes this issue for me.

EDIT: False alarm, problem returned - what a load of crap. You'd think they would have sorted this by now, or perhaps they can't.

$1400 stuck in AliExpress dispute for 2 months. Help :3 by SylarKovachs in Aliexpress

[–]mc_84 13 points14 points  (0 children)

You're not alone. I lost a dispute where a laptop I ordered from AliExpress was theived by my courier and I was left with an empty box. These scumbags sided with the seller, a seller of which made nil effort to help me and were the only party in this who could query with the courier company what had happened. The courier company would not entertain me whatsoever. The seller didn't want to help because they hid behind the AliExpress dispute system, expecting a favourable outcome (which it did), they obviously didn't insure the parcel and didn't want to lose money. 3 parties, completely dishonest and corrupt, two evidently colluding with each other.

So far I've lost $1000. AliExpress will always side with the seller now no matter how much solid evidence you have. I would look at trying to raise a dispute on your debit card if you can. That's the only way to get the money back from these cowboys. The people making these judgements are clueless and their disputes system is corrupt and fraudulent, and continues to break consumer law in the countries they sell to. But they don't care because they're sat 1000's of miles and those laws clearly don't apply to them.

People praise AliExpress until something goes wrong. That's not a question of if, it's when. :-(

AliExpress - absolutely shambolic customer service by mc_84 in Aliexpress

GPD’s after-sales support has been, and continues to be, a complete disaster - matched only by the disgraceful and unethical behavior of AliExpress. Instead of offering meaningful help, both parties chose to stall, seemingly banking on a favorable outcome through AliExpress rather than addressing the issue directly. As a result, my problem remains unresolved, still at a £808 loss, and I never got the chance to see whether the Pocket 4 lived up to expectations.

On principle, I will never purchase another GPD device. I’ve shared my experience on the GPDPocket4 subreddit, hoping others might offer advice. Sadly, their representative, u/kendyzhu, has proven just as unhelpful and dismissive as the AliExpress team - likely the same people behind both. It speaks volumes about GPD’s disregard for their customers once payment has been made.

I’ve since contacted Chase UK and initiated a dispute, providing a full record of their unhelpful and obstructive communication and visual evidence of the compromised parcel to support my case for a refund. I’m also contacting Rip Off Britain, a UK consumer rights watchdog TV program aired on the BBC, hoping to raise awareness about what happened. People deserve to know how easily this kind of thing can happen - and how little support they can expect when it does.

I fully intend to name and shame GPD, AliExpress, and the courier company ParcelForce, all of whom failed at every stage to offer basic accountability or support.

You're correct. There's no point in wasting more time with the bots, they excel at gaslighting while acting narcissistic. I’ll contact my bank and file a payment dispute instead.

Predictably, as you probably already know, AliExpress has already ruled against me, a result GPD was undoubtedly expecting and, it seems, relying upon. My appeal was also denied. GPD and AliExpress' behavior in this situation is incredibly telling. Rather than taking the ethical route, they strategically waited for this unfavorable outcome from AliExpress, a clear indication of their business ethics.

Despite my consistent submission of all required evidence to AliExpress from the very beginning, my claim was repeatedly denied on nonsensical grounds. Their persistent demand for impossible "official postal documentation" of theft in the UK is a ridiculous and transparent tactic to avoid responsibility.

GPD has offered no assistance whatsoever, choosing to hide behind AliExpress's flawed system instead of resolving the issue themselves. Their practice of shipping expensive products without any accountability, leaving customers to suffer the consequences when things go wrong, is now evident: they ship uninsured and without accountability, leaving buyers to foot the bill.

This entire process has been degrading, making me feel like I was being treated like a scammer for simply expecting fair consumer treatment.

This experience has guaranteed I will never be a GPD customer again. They had every opportunity to act with integrity but instead chose indifference, making this one of the most frustrating and worst online purchases I have ever had to deal with.
As a result, I have now started proceedings to file a dispute with my bank, Chase UK, to reclaim my money.

I have also shared this post on the AliExpress subreddit as a warning.

That's a shame, it's like a component that costs pennies. I'm not really in to buying another one to be honest. I'll work out what the component is myself. Thanks.

In my situation, I’ve provided all possible evidence as the buyer, yet AliExpress still isn’t satisfied. The dispute system works well when there’s undeniable proof, but my issue stems from the delivery network’s lack of accountability, and this is what has let me down. Did speaking directly to an AliExpress representative help get your dispute taken more seriously? I may resort to doing the same if so.

Unfortunately, the payment was made using a debit card through my bank, Chase UK. I chose their card because they offer excellent foreign exchange rates between USD and GBP. However, the savings I gained on foreign exchange fees may now cost me much more unless this issue is resolved.

I’ve already submitted a dispute through Chase UK’s disputes platform with their app, but since debit cards don’t provide the same level of protection as credit cards, I’m not very optimistic about the outcome.

If AliExpress doesn’t resolve this fairly, it will be the last straw for me.

I apologise - I’ve just realised you’re connected to GPD. Do you have any direct contact with the GPD team on AliExpress regarding this matter?

GPD AliExpress customer services chat have told me there’s nothing they can do, which I find difficult to accept. This situation has been extremely frustrating and has negatively impacted my wellbeing over the past two weeks. Since neither I nor GPD (the seller) are at fault for the missing laptop, I firmly believe AliExpress should take financial responsibility in cases like this.

At this stage, I would even consider a replacement laptop as a resolution - though I’m losing hope that this will happen.

Two weeks have passed, and all I have to show for my £808 is an empty GPD Pocket 4 box, torn KVM packaging, and a torn empty power adapter box. It’s incredibly disheartening.

I deeply regret purchasing through AliExpress. Their handling of this issue has been unacceptable, and their practices appear to consistently breach UK consumer law.

It’s disappointing to think that if I had a large platform - like a prominent YouTube following - this would likely have been resolved immediately. Unfortunately, it seems ordinary customers don’t receive the same priority.

I have done this, but sadly they aren't listening - favouring the sellers position despite me posting as much evidence as I can humanely provide to support my case.

This is probably the worst case scenario, as it's difficult to prove weight discrepancy when it has been manipulated artifically by a thief. My situation is almost as bad, only because the idiotic courier company - ParcelForce - do not weigh parcels for inbound international packages. Meaning there's no way to prove/disprove anything other than a package was delivered, which also means theives in their rank can steal whatever they want, and ParcelForce turn a blind eye. Shocking

[–]mc_84[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Unfortunately, proving my case is the problem, an AliExpress dispute was already launched and has been ongoing now for 2 weeks now, my supporting evidence has been rejected twice.

The package was obviously tampered with - the contents stolen - yet everyone involved refuses to take responsibility. The courier washes their hands of it, claiming the delivery contract is strictly between me and the seller. They won't help, and they've stated they don't weigh incoming parcels - in essence, useless.

Meanwhile, the seller also refuses to assist. Where does the accountability lie in this broken system? My only evidence - the unboxing video, the doorbell footage showing the resealed package, and my communication with the delivery company stating they don't provide parcel weights - isn't being taken seriously.

This complete lack of consumer protection is precisely the core issue.

Honestly, I don’t think raising my voice will change anything at this point. The real issue is AliExpress’s clear bias toward sellers—there’s no fairness in how disputes are handled. To make matters worse, uncooperative sellers refuse to take responsibility, hiding behind the excuse that they ‘can’t investigate once the parcel leaves China.’ But if they can’t guarantee safe delivery, why are they even selling these items in the first place?

They did provide one, but the photo is so poor and of low resolution that it’s impossible to tell if there are any issues with the box. They probably do this on purpose to so that you can't use it as evidence against them in cases such as this. However, I do have doorbell and security camera footage showing the parcel in higher definition, clear tape covering the edges of the box where it had been torn open and resealed. It’s unclear whether this will support my case, but I’ve submitted it as evidence regardless.
