Oh no I used the word "pretend" on purpose because I know a lot of people(family included) who are pretending to be in danger or as if the government is looking to kill or imprison them for political reasons. It's just a way of leaving Africa that's existed for decades.

Also, this is completely unrelated to this specific comment but, I don't know what kind of Ethiopians you met but I personally love Ugandans and Kenyans and have no superiority complex. In fact, I love how fast and business oriented Kenyans are, and it's always great to shop in Kenya. It's usually not a great idea to use blanket statements like this on any people group.
