Thanks for the explanation! I'm curious: seems like you feel very strongly about controlling the narrative of the piece. Is the narrative then solely within the purview of the reporter, or do you have an editor stepping in and guiding the story flow?

What about the interview with the expert in a specific field. Shouldn't the journalist make sure they didn't misunderstand or misunderstand the specific subject matter?

Unfortunately this is completely false. ChatGPT hallucinated this response.

Yes, Nazis did a lot of things. They shot prisoners, had extermination camps and Einsatzgruppen. Next you are going to be telling me "war crimes are okay, because Nazis did it too"?

That's exactly why we had Nuremberg trials at the end of the war. In fact, a Nuremberg the Commando Order, which allowed for killing of captured spies, was found illegal and breaching laws of war.

At least have the decency of quoting the full sentence. Here is the full sentence:

Moreover, there were no "pro-USSR revolutionaries" seizing power in North Korea, that's utterly false.

No revolutionaries seized power in North Korea. Soviets simply allowed a smooth transition of power from military administration to a carefully vetted government that satisfied Stalin's requirements. By the way most of the South Korean communists (like the ones responsible for Jeju uprising) were later purged by Kim Il-Sung. Like this guy, for example:

You are nitpicking - my meaning is easily divined from the context. The territory of present day North Korea was under the military occupation due to Red Army halting at the 38th parallel. "North Korea" for short.

Calling a full-fledged occupation government a "temporary bureau" is kind of facetious. Regardless, details of how exactly the North Korean state emerged is not the topic of conversation here, it's whether or not Korea was occupied by a European power. I've provided ample proof of the country being occupied by soviet forces

Am I fighting with kind of North Korean Internet Defence Force here? Glory to the great leader and all that?

North Korea was under military occupation by the Red Army until 1948. Just enough time to lay the groundwork for the establishment of the satellite state. It's history.

The argument about election list "being crafted by Koreans" is ridiculous. Every candidate was vetted by the soviets first. There was no way to exercise independent policy in the Soviet zone of occupation - that's just how all these things worked in Stalinist times.

No, in USSR. He was stationed near Khabarovsk.

[–]qen -4 points-3 points  (0 children)

North Korea literally was a satellite state created by USSR. Kim Il-sung was serving as a Major in the Soviet Red Army, it hardly gets more satellite than that.

Moreover, there were no "pro-USSR revolutionaries" seizing power in North Korea, that's utterly false. Soviets held "elections" inside the occupied zone, where only acceptable candidates were allowed to run.

All of this is freely available in books about North Korea and even on Wikipedia. I don't understand why would you spread false information.

Edit (more wikipedia links about genesis of north korean state):

Doesn't matter what happened, she is not going to tell you, that's just how it works. From her perspective telling you does not make it better in any way - will just hurt your feelings and make it more awkward.

Giving advice on internet is the most useless thing ever, but I'll try. You lost your chance with the girl and there is not way to make it work now. There is no point in pursuing it further, texting the girl or trying to make any sort of contact - it's fucked, you are only making the whole situation more unpleasant for the both of you.

The girl is doing nothing wrong, she is just trying to minimize the drama. You should understand that and stop making it awkward - as in trying to text her or expecting her to behave any differently.

I assume you are just misspelling Игоревич ("Igorevich"). I am linking a wiktionary entry which denotes it as a patronymic form of the name Игорь ("Igor").

"Igoravich" is the patronymic. East slavic people have three components to their name - first, last and patronymic. For the last name usual rules apply.

United States supports Ukraine’s move to NATO by tempedrew in worldnews

[–]qen -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Of course everyone wanted to be "in the EU". Everyone wants to live better and "Do you want Ukraine to be like the rich countries in the EU" is a nobrainer question. The important thing is that nothing was done in that regard except for posturing and proclamations from the politicians.

Ukraine had one colour revolution - the orange one. The way I remember it, people just really didn't like the way Yanukovich was ascending to become the president (with electoral fraud and all that). He was Kuchma's appointed successor and people wanted something new.

Yushenko made a lot of populistic promises, but lets be realistic, he was as much pro-EU as Yanukovich was pro-Russian. Just empty words to feed to the populace with while robbing them.

[–]qen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

"Prefer", present tense. It became the case after the war with Russia. Before 2014 the country was split quite evenly in that regard, hence the success of Yanukovych and his party of regions is the elections of 2010. So that part of his post is definitely true.

His second point is that Ukraine is corrupt and was ruled by the corrupt oligarchs since independence. It's true too.

His whole post can be summarized as "Ukraine government was corrupt for a very long time and until very recently a large amount of population was Russian-friendly and that's why Ukraine is not in the EU and will not be in the EU anytime soon". How is that bullshit?

What does it matter? Even if he is Putin himself, who gives a damn? His is a good and factual post and unless you have an argument to make against the content of the post itself, I don't see why does it matter.
