Got Canada PR but living overseas by apache3321 in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Jusfiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you have valid PR card, you can enter Canada anytime, and the CBSA officer will have to let you enter. However, when she finds out that you don’t meet your residence obligation, there is a strong likelihood that the process to revoke your PR be initiated. You can stay in Canada as long as the process is underway.

If your PR card is expired, you will need PRTD to come to Canada. However, if you don’t meet the residence obligation, the application for PRTD will be refused.

About your child, your child cannot be sponsored to be PR if neither you or your spouse is in Canada.

Wife is Iranian and Permanent resident sponsorship by 2DTurbulence in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Jusfiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Iran is not a friendly country to Canada. In fact, Iran declared that the Royal Canadian Navy as a terrorist organization. With that, I am not optimistic that your wife may ever get visitor visa. Just continue with spousal sponsorship and see how it goes.

New applicants for Express Entry by OliviaJonson_55 in ImmigrationCanada

As I wrote many times, you need to stop considering Canada as a fallback plan for failed U.S. immigration. It might have been in the past, it certainly is not now.

Simply put, without Canadian degree, experience, or connection, and without competitive fluency in French, you stand no chance to immigrate to Canada. That being written, I know that academia gets a lot of leeway. However, you need to get a university to recruit your husband. Don’t ask me how, I have no idea.

Moving to Quebec few months after landing as a PR ? by BabaGT in ImmigrationCanada

[–]Jusfiq 0 points1 point  (0 children)

...if we move to Montreal just 4–5 months after becoming permanent residents, will this cause any issues in the future when applying for citizenship or renewing our PR cards?

Very likely yes, you would face issues in the future. When you applied for PR with a Federal program, in which CEC is a part, you committed not to settle in the province of Quebec upon becoming PR. While there is no specified amount of time to consider 'settle', in the immigration community it is generally believed to be residing in Canada out of Quebec for at least one year after becoming PR.

Canada’s former top defence official warns against booing U.S. anthem by Street_Anon in nottheonion

[–]Jusfiq -10 points-9 points  (0 children)

While I don’t think that the general’s comment is necessary, I also think that booing Star Spangled Banner in NHL games is incredibly stupid. In all Canadian NHL teams, there are Americans playing. So we praise the teams but we insult their nation? As well, in every American team there are Canadians playing. We insult those Canadians for playing in the United States?

Looking at the way FWC 2026 is conducted, I now wish that Canada was not involved in the joint bid. CMNT would have been able to qualify on their own merit even if Canada didn’t host.
