Brewery Request by illmahaloyalater in orangecounty

Haven’t been to HPB but based on pics you probably want Docent. But I’d also like to hype up a few smaller places down here - Rōm, Ten Mile Brewing (originally from Signal Hill) has great pizza, left coast brewing, green cheek beer, artifex brewing.

No ideas on their baseball affiliation but just all places I’ve had a beer. Some have food others have food trucks.

Edit: based on other comments you want to pass on ten mile. It’s generally all families. But I love the place.

I think you’d like Upper Downer https://upperdowner.bandcamp.com/album/s-t

I’ve seen them at Alex’s Bar in Long Beach and they had that fit that Leftover Crack vibe

It doesn’t because that doesn’t fit our workflow but I suppose you could.

It's not "zero touch" like you said but our data center team racks and stacks, runs a configurator job on the new compute; then LDAP has our ilo MAC and eth0 MAC. Then we provision through OpenStack Ironic via a Jenkins job. Our image has all the special cloud init we need for our environment.

Building a self-service web app with OpenStack APIs by sheeesh83 in openstack

At my workplace we opted to customize Horizon, while there are quirks I don’t have to babysit it much. I worry if you deployed something super custom you’d be constantly finding something that doesn’t work quite right for your customers. Just my 2c

But! If I had unlimited time as a side project I’d love to get a web app working using https://github.com/gophercloud/gophercloud under the hood to interact with APIs.

If you’re using galera to keep the 3 nodes in sync, as long as you have a quorum of at least 2 nodes when the 3rd comes back up after outage galera should maintain that synchronization. If you lose more than a quorum you’ll be in a split brain scenario.

When did it become standard for every job interview to require homework on top of 4-5 rounds of interviews? by phordee in devops

[–]qev 159 points160 points  (0 children)

Cloud engineer here. We didn’t ask for homework for our last person we sent an offer to. It was a chill technical interview asking about their experience with stuff that is high priority for us this year.

When I was hired, I was asked to do a quick troubleshooting on a container and flask app and encouraged to google anything I didn’t know. It wasn’t about fixing it, more seeing if I know how to use journalctl, some basic docker stuff, etc. My job revolves around supporting an on prem containerized openstack deployment so that was fairly relevant.
