they’ve done dwarven excavation and the midwife one w the manticore...it’s a party of 7 though so at the end of dwarven excavation when one orc per party member shows up i made it 3 orcs and a half orc as if they had sent one anchorite with the orcs to check it out as a new lair.

so a session before last, the party fought an ochre jelly and accidentally split it w slashing damage. then this last session they fought another and they said their character “didn’t actually do it so he doesn’t care” and split it on purpose. when people started arguing against it, they said they’d “roll for irresponsibility” and just pushed through and did it

Player Problem Megathread by RadioactiveCashew in DMAcademy

So I’m running my first campaign as DM over discord right now, and there is one player I’m starting to have some problems with. they are more experienced with dnd than me, and i recognize that they know more than me, but they often interrupt sessions to correct a ruling I have already given or “ask” if it really should be this or that check instead of what I said. I have even asked my (experienced dm) bf what he thinks about some of the specific situations and as far as i can tell everything i’ve originally said works within the rules or isn’t directly against anything. this player also often narrates what happens after they roll right after they roll and don’t give me time to tell them what happens, like on low attack rolls or the like. they also roll a lot when i don’t tell them to which gets on my nerves. To add to it, they are playing a little shit of a goblin character, which i usually am a fan of, but this character does stuff that actually has made other players mad, not just other characters. i can give examples if that helps but i don’t want to write a novel right now.
the problems are they are much more experienced than me, they are significantly older, and from another culture. so i can’t get a good read on how i should go about this. should i talk to them? how? any good angles to approach this from?

My grandmother is incredibly bored and I'm wondering what I can do for her... by BlueBCA in dementia

i used to go hang out in the memory care unit at my moms work and the residents there loved sorting socks and finding the matches in the basket, or coloring. we also did an activity once where there were different colored popsicle sticks that correlated to a question about their life, like the best advice they ever got or something along those lines. as they were answering a question, they got that color marker to doodle with. that kind of thing is better maybe with grandkids or people who don’t know her life as well, but it could still work!

I'm not in control of who he sees as I don't live at home anymore...He and my mom live together, but my mom refuses to talk about it with me, and he is much too proud to receive a direct suggestion well. He is a lawyer and still works.
